I got Gali and Ketar today. I haven’t built them yet, though. I fell asleep for 7 hours because I was up for an entire day and night. I’ll share my thoughts on the sets once I’m built them and messed around with them.
I just feel (on the subject of ribcages) we need a new torso piece in general, imo. It should be priority.
I mean, personally I don’t mind the torso pieces we have now, but new ones would be nice. What we really need are new foot molds. Those HF 2.0 clown shoe molds, while still good, are starting to get a little old. I mean, I wouldn’t be too bothered if we didn’t get new ones in 2017, which we probably won’t, but IMO it’s more necessary than new torso parts.
Now, if we got BOTH, now that’d be freakin’ sweet and I’d love Lego for it.
Personally, I never liked the clown shoe. I always thought it took away from the set. Not only is it bad imo, it is now stale. Please Lego. If your going to do a new wave of molds, make them feet. Feet > torsos, in fact.
I dont how its a clown shoe, its pretty accurately sized compared to real humans.
Not really, the foot we currently have is almost twice the size of the toa’s head. The proportions are terrible, and look even more jarring when compared to the tinier 2016 masks.
I think one is the purple ribcage and one is the purple mace piece.

Impossible, the mace piece is already on his back
Oh yeah…
Ok, it’s probably a miscolor.
Yes, thank you.
It looks worse on humanoid figures like the SW ultrabuilds. Plus, it looks like a clown shoe. I’ve hated this piece since the 2.0 heroes.

Its the right size compared to the bodies, or at least o me it is. I think that most g1 feet also were around the same size if not bigger.
the only thing that bothers me is that indent in the middle for technic pieces, but thats their so you can move the foot up words
So you’re saying you have feet longer that half your leg?

I don’t really get bothered by proportions. I assume the Toa are still 7 ft. tall, making the Protectors way out of proportion, and besides, nothing’s wrong with biomechanical humanoids being a bit out of proportion. Not all supernatural beings have to be human-sized, even some humans have odd proportions. I really like this Bionicle because it feels so other-worldly. Six almighty beings named after constellations are summoned with the power of a sole island’s six elemental animal deities, with the six going to attack a threat the Protectors of the island could hardly defend their own territories against. It sounds like Beowulf times six.
Now, the island is threatened by the spawns of a corrupted demon, wanting nothing but to cleanse the island for its master.
I am definitly over-exaggerating a toyline, but I have an interest in mythology, tribes, and technology mixed with magic.
I may have digressed. The point is, I agree that the same pieces being used gets a little old, but I’m not going to be disinterested in the line as a whole because of that. I appreciate Lego for making a new Bionicle with a world so interesting I want them to expand on it, but I really want them to capitalize on what they have.
As much as I am a stickler for proper proportions, I love classic giant-robot exaggerations. It’s what separates the alien robot to the human in costume. The foot size doesn’t really bother me, I just wish we had some more variety. A new piece that looked similar to both the Mata and Metru foot would be a dream come true.
I actually like Gali quite a bit more than I thought I would. I did modify her a little bit without adding anything, though. I just fixed her proportions up a little. She looks pretty cool with Akida on her, though her shoulder pad thingy gets in the way of one of the blasters just a bit. I actually kinda like Ketar. Sure, his function is as loose as heck, and his torso/function build is a bit jumbled, but he’s still kinda nice. I’m happy to finally have completed the winter wave.
Today, I had a choice to buy either a $24.99 Umarak the Destroyer or a $22.99 Ekimu the Mask Maker.
You may call me a fool, but I got the Umarak the Destroyer set.
Two words… T’was Worthit!!!
It took me a little under an hour to build (including putting on the stickers…I hate stickers).
He is AWESOME!
His hip-function is really smooth, and his claws are awesome.
I can see why some people would complain about the neck not being able to move, but I like it.
I am still trying to get used to his range of motion, but it’s not THAT bad. Of course there are still the stickers (I…HATE…STICKERS). They were easy to align on the chest and the design on them is cool (I still HATE STICKERS).
On a scale of 1 -10… 10! No questions asked (well…aside from the stickers).
Anyways, to give some food for thought on this topic, I thought of something.
In JtO: Trials of the Toa, Makuta’s dark spirit says to the transforming Hunter, "There are events that must transpire so that I may be FREED."
Hang on.
FREED?
Shouldn’t Makuta be saying “AWAKENED”?
On this train of thought, I thought of this:
What if Makuta’s body is under possession of the Mask of Ultimate Power, but his spirit (though influenced by the MoUP’s evil nature) is free?
With this idea in mind, Makuta’s spirit knows that his body is under the control of the MoUP… and he needs to DESTROY it to be truly freed. This is where Umarak the Destroyer comes in.
Umarak the Destroyer is searching for the Mask of Ultimate Power so that he can destroy it and free Makuta’s body so Makuta can awaken!
If Makuta was ever awakened, it would really be the MoUP’s mind in his body… but the MoUP needs to reunite with itself so that it can become an even more powerful version of Makuta (maybe it will go Titan-Sized when it places the MoUP on its face a second time ?).
Thoughts?
EDIT:
Sometimes, I bold the main question/idea of my posts.
Sometimes, I bold a quote from a movie/book/etc (I also italicize quotes so they stand out from other bolds I made).
Sometimes, I bold the parts of a quote which is most relevant (like your post above in this edit).
Sometimes, I bold words so they stand out from my posts.
Sometimes… I just get carried away!
I’ve gotta ask, why do you like bold font so much? Like I don’t have a problem with it, I’m just curious
Anyway, on your theory thing,
that’s actually a good observation
It ties in with the whole makuta is a good guy thing, and since his body is possessed, he would have to maintain a spirit form in order to be free of the MoUP’s influence
I wish the 15 dollah Toa’s gold masks were silver and translucent instead of gold. The gold just looks so random and kinda… slapped on there. Oddly enough I’m fine with it on Lewa, sorta ok with it on Potato, and not ok with it on Gali,
Lemme guess… Toys R Us? Saw this same price for the same set at Toys R Us. Gotta say, it’s a rip-off. My brother got Ekimu for 15 dollars when they first came out. You should have waited for them to go on clearance! Then you could have gotten them cheaper.
Ekimu’s actual price on the Lego shop is $14.99. Man, you paid too much for the guy.
Exactly. I still feel that if there was one thing 2015 did wrong, it was not releasing a brand new line of feet.
