Based on the 2015 animations I assumed the MoUP was a version of the Avohkii, and I still hope it is. To me the mask in the clouds kind of looks like upper half of the mask of time, but like other people have said the mask of creation had some large design changes so it is not to much of a stretch to as the MoUP did as well.

A: These are NOT robots. They are biomechanical beings. Emphasis on Bio.
B: the hand closer to the hot metal needs a glove. The back hand is there for leverage and strength only, so it doesn’t require a glove.

Maybe make the top horizontal spikes stick pout from the middle and reflect the design of the spikes from the bottom to the top?
The flesh is inside. If metal gets too hot, it can roast and destroy the muscles and nerves inside of the exoskeleton.
Also, even if they were all robots, letting their hands get so close to heat like that would be the equivalent to putting your phone in a microwave or in a hot oven. Their hands would be fried and wouldn’t function anymore.

I think that the shape in the clouds is the MoUP. I mean, it makes sense, I looked at it and right away saw a mask, and it wouldn’t be the first time in G2 Lego actually pulled an illuminati. I mean, they put the Vahi all over in the 2015 animations, and it ended up being canon.

Man, this “mask in the clouds” discussion seems like the whole “Mata Nui on the mask of control in the poster” argument.
