Yeah, he swings his swords up and down when you move the tail horizontally. Although I would’ve liked to see a gear function allowing the tail to strike without having to move it manually. Even if it means sacrificing Ketar’s current function.
thanks and the tail function would be awesome
Black, white, and red still exist, and while a 3rd (or 3.5ths) of the toa use new colors, red still one of the primary color for fire in 2015.
That’s an opinion, not a fact (unless you were saying that it’s your opinion). I don’t think it should be used on it’s own because that would pop out a lot and having no solid colors other than red is… really weird to say the least.
Indeed, but I guess Ketar’s no skull scorpio.
true
Woah, woah, calm down a bit. Trans red orange does represent fire, but simply having it on it’s own without any other solid colors other than gold or silver doesn’t work for me. Using your logic, if trans blue represents water and is close enough to solid blue that both are just about the same, I could just make Gali trans blue, and that doesn’t work because she would look like some elemental deity. The toa need to have some solid colors, IMO.
@SwagMeister She could though, couldn’t she? There aren’t really any laws against it. There aren’t any art laws saying it’s a bad thing either. There isn’t even statistical evidence against it drawing in children. I’d even go so far as to say that children today love those colors, considering that they’ve only been increasing in constraction sets for some time now.
Maybe most of us are getting old? That certain age where things that appeal to kids won’t appeal to us?
I still like how it looks like Tahu is engulfed by fire, though. But that’s just me.
Besides, aren’t these guys practically gods to the okotoans anyways?
Well that’s up to designer opinions, and you can honestly tell that I am not a designer but to me, that would be used for only beings made up of their pure element. Think the NRG incarnations of the Ninjas in Ninjago for example, except in full trans colors.
Answer this question then: is there a constraction/system set with a fully trans color scheme with no solid colors?
More like saviors, IMO. Gods would behave more like Greek gods to me.
@SwagMeister Why yes, yes there is (not full translucent mind you, because no one is arguing for absolute translucent dominance). The 2016 Toa. I’m pretty sure that focus groups have shown to LEGO that having translucent colors being more prominent appeals to kids. Same with gold and silver. There has been a significant increase in those colors over the years, naturally LEGO wouldn’t do that unless there was a business motive for using those colors.
I think the real problem here is that you’re no longer growing. You’re using the information of what looked “good” when you were a kid, and aren’t able to warm up to what looks good to a kid now. It’s a common thing that happens to us when we become adults.
Kind of true, but not at the same time. There is large amount of trans pieces in the sets but they also have an equally large amount of solid colors to use.
I believe LEGO managed to get metal colored molds for cheap prices back in 2008, shown by the large amount of silver in the Mistika. For the translucent colors, I don’t know, but I would understand why kids would like trans colors because, well, have you ever put your Toa on a windowsill?
Makes sense, obviously I’m talking about a kid’s toyline here so I would have logic different from a child’s logic.
Let’s stop this here and now.
It’s alright for Mr. Swagmeister to not like Tahu’s over-abundance of trans colors. While I am a fan of it, he simply isn’t. This isn’t an issue of what’s comfortable to him, it’s what preferable to him.
I can’t help to notice that Umarak chest have a face-
I know I said that before ITS A SABER TOOTHED TIGER RAWR
2015 gave us a gatling gun embedded in a chest and now 2016 is bringing us a chest - mouth. Wonder what’s next…
Also, is anyone wondering how Umarak would look combined with the 3 creatures that we haven’t seen him with?
“Hoi guise!”
I now really want Umarak to be a grizzled hunter who constantly argues with his ditzy, well-meaning chest. I don’t care if it goes against the ‘dark’ image I also love the concept of for Umarak, MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Also true, but like Kopaka 15’s ice-nipples it’s something I don’t think I’ll ever unsee.
It looks more like a pelt to me if anything.
I told you guys, Umarak combined with Uxar is glorious
Umarak-Uxar in an arial dogfight with Tahu-Ikir had better happen in Journey to One
All I’ll say about Tahu’s colors is that I do wish there was a little bit more red. Red’s just such a great color. Do I hope his next incarnation gets it? Yes. Mostly because I’m tired of the overabundance of gold. It’d be fine if say only Tahu had gold, then it would be a unique color. But half (or every if you count the masks) Toa already have gold.
And I know for a fact it isn’t the nostalgia talking, because then I’d go off on some rant that black, red, and yellow/orange is the best fire colorscheme which I know firsthand it isn’t.
Now that I got that out of my system, really liking those mask runes. Perhaps one day we’ll even get masks with printed/stickered designs. That will be the day.
@Yo_Yo_Piraka *Hums “Flight of the Bumblebee” Man that’s going to be fun. It even looks like you can activate the wing function when combined.
Wow, finalised pics. Gotta say I’m loving them. The new torso peice looks like it might be restrictive for moccing, Lewa is amazing, the unities look amazing, I dont know how I feel about all the Toa having blue eyes and some of the masks look too big to see the eyes. I’ll post my opinions later, I’m kinda in a rush.
