BIONICLE 2016 Discussion Topic

Hey now, any time I get to see stars is a good time except in 2010

I still think there’s a chance for dvd release!

Here’s hoping. I mean, they clearly have some MoUPs, unless those were just hastily moulded prototypes made specifically for the Makuta contest

As much as the MoUP release. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tbh I really feel like the story was primed for 3 years and had a rushed ending.

Personally, I’m not too upset that we aren’t getting a MoUP release.

From the beginning, it was clear that it would be difficult to give story justification for allowing the mask to return - wearing it for even a few moments almost destroyed Okoto. How would LEGO explain it if Makuta turned up wearing it?
Now, with JtO we know that the MoUP didn’t even exist for most of the story’s timeline, having been destroyed only hours after its creation. Ekimu also stated that the mask couldn’t stay together (although hints that maybe a non-evil wearer could pull it off).
It was basically a short-lived plot device, that would make no canon sense to appear on an actual set, so I feel no need for a plastic version of it.

However, if people really want a physical MoUP, there are two options:

  1. Volta has the digital model of it that could be 3D printed if they could be persuaded to distribute it. It wouldn’t be designed to fit sets, but then LEGO would likely not allow 3D data for an actual piece to be distributed, even if it were not going to be commercialised.
  2. (Highly unlikely!) Only future sets have been ruled out. The BIONICLE magazine may still reach a third issue, in which case there would be a third mini-build that could be the MoUP on a stand or something.

Well, I’m still not sure what to say and I’ve had about nine hours to think about it.

I’m just not sure what to do aside from continue the story.

But are we going to get the magazine with Agil?
I guess it is also canceled

Well. That’s rather disappointing. At this rate I might as well just erase 2016 from my memory :stuck_out_tongue:.

I’m a little bitter that we’ll never get a Makuta set or the MoUP, but all things considered I really had a fun time with G2. It got me back into Lego, it gave some solid sets, and even the litle things like hunting for info or forming theories were fun.

I think my biggest disappointment is that G2 didn’t really have enough time to fully form it’s own identity. It was certainly distinct from what came before and 2016 showed what new ideas could look like in this new Bionicle, it’s a shame we won’t see more.

The cancellation changes nothing of the fact I’ll continue to create Bionicle-related things. The spark of G2 while short has already ignited the fire. Who knows how soon a new constraction line comes. Until then, this all has been a fine journey that has only begun.

Nah man, I’m done. I haven’t bought a single set of the 2016 wave. And while I might miss the other masks for collections sake, buying any more sets isnt going to give me a new, fun experience.

Gunpla seems cool, but im already too invested into art and guitar

Do not double post. And do not try to start political discussion. -Eljay

Did I see someone taking a shot at Neo Shifters? They were awesome man!

I haven’t seen the end of journey to one yet so I don’t know wether or not the story has a good conclusion, but this guys comment on the Facebook page is pretty similar to my thoughts on the sets:

I mean, was it that hard to release at least 6 different Beasts?

Gen 2 was actually awesome and solid! Sure it was kinda simple but it was still enjoyable! And as time want on I saw improvements! It brought back many memories from Gen 1 and I felt so hyped all through it! I loved every single moment of it! It will be never forgotten. It was an awesome Journey To walk on and revive my childhood. I’m sad it ended and put many potential ideas aside but regardless it’s been a really fun ride. And that’s what matters. Farewell Bionicle. You will be always remembered by the fans. We loved you. We love you. And we will always love you!

I sincerely agree I’m just disappointed that most of the villain sets were severely disappointing, that G2 ended so soon, and we didn’t get to see an epic final battle between Makuta and the toa.

Also, how I felt once I heard Bionicle is cancelled.

Has LEGO actually given a valid reason yet why it’s canceled

Also is the makuta contest still going to happen?

No plans for JtO Makuta instructions: https://twitter.com/LEGO_Group/status/759113602817069056

Maybe they didn’t get enough sales? Just a thought?

I’m certain that he will be built by someone, somehow, eventually
