They literally said several times that they had no plans to release a Makuta set or the MoUP.

While livestreams are good for watching something for a large audience, its not something where everyone can share their thoughts easily, which is why there should be another idea for this.
They still should not have shown us the physical Makuta build with a physical representation of the MoUP. People got a lot of positive ideas cause of that showing.

I can understand that. It disappoints me too, TBH. Still, it’s not impossible that we won’t get one in some form. As others have said, modeling in 3D and selling it in Shapeways is a possibility, though not perfect, and there’s maybe a slight chance that LEGO could be persuaded to make it and release it in polybag form (I doubt it, but anything’s possible).

I wont buy all those sets just to make a combiner that did not have the legit mask for the combiner…but I would buy a set of the said combiner if it was released officially as a set. Partially cause of cost since I cant afford all those sets to build what seems to be a 30-40 dollar set build, not to mention I dont want all those parts laying around and bags , knowing I had more and now I had less in terms of build.
I dont like buying sets that I have or dont plan on getting, Im not a MOCer nor a collector that much, what I would collect are the Legendary Masks.
If they did release the MoUP in ONLY polybag form, they better make sure everyone can get it, not just Russia or Germany, or US what not.

I can certainly agree with you there. Personally, I think the previously-mentioned idea of distributing it with JtO DVDs would be a good move on LEGO’s part. It would provide us with a bit of closure, and it might provide others with some incentive to buy the DVDs (as of now, the only reason to do so is if you lack Netflix).
Still, given today’s news, one has to wonder if the DVD rumors were false as well…

True…I’ve been thinking about that, and I’ve come to this conclusion:
I think the cancellation was supposed to be announced on Sunday, in order to give us some time to digest the end of JtO, but–as is wont to occur in these scenarios–people were confused after the end of JtO, and that led them to contact LEGO via Twitter and other platforms in search of an explanation. Perhaps the responses to those tweets weren’t “officially vetted” by LEGO, but once they came out, it was too late to hide, forcing them to move the announcement up to today. I don’t know if that’s true, but if it isn’t, then I’m at a loss to explain what Sunday’s announcement will consist of.

Maybe…in that case, it’ll be good to finally get a little more transparency on why the line got cancelled. Who knows, maybe they’ll announce some way in which they intend to end the line properly? I know they’ve said they have no plans of releasing Makuta/the MoUP, but they’ve said things like that before that turned out to be cover-ups for something else (Example: Even up until the announcement of the 2015 reboot they still denied that BIONICLE was coming back).
Obviously, we can’t get our hopes up, but who knows?

We still have less than half a year for Makuta set to become a thing, all they need is to make a new mould press for that mask and the rest they already have the mould presses for it. That and also some bit more funding for just one more set.
