BIONICLE 2016 Discussion Topic

That has literally nothing to do with the topic nor the discussion.

This is why people in the community such as myself can’t take you seriously.

The commentary community is usually just as stupid as the people they criticise.

The difference is that one is a toyline and one is an actual issue. I don’t think you should challenge the opinion on something children buy to play with.

I don’t take anything seriously lol.

Oh sure, I could do that!
Uh…
Well, even though it was from the winter, Unity was really really cool. I just started to display my collection of toa united and oooooh man, it makes all the difference.

The 2016 torso was also fantastic for posability, and though I feel it could have been done a liiiittle better, I did enjoy the technic aspects of the new sets. But overall it was sort of a mixed bag for me. Yes, the sets were all cool to some degree, and JtO was awesome, but with bionicle ending… it’s sorta bittersweet to look at my collection and think “Well… This is it.”

Haha Tahu and Lewa actually flying!!!

I love 2016. All the sets for me have been awesome (2015 was great too…but I prefer 2016 a little more). Highlights…definitely the unity combinations, all the masks, Umaraks, beasts, transparent parts. So great. All the toa were so good that it’s honestly been so difficult for me to choose my favourite. I think I just love em all.

Im going to go out on a limb here and say your not a native english speaker, because your grammar and spelling are terrible, worse then mine, and I cant even remember how to use the differnt forms of there most of the time.

Also

You know nothing about how business works, stores dont put things on sale because they arnt selling well, they put things on sale because the customer expects things to be on sale now. Large retailers are constantly putting new things on sale when they dont fly off the shelves because they need to move product fast and they need to keep the consumer happy with the prices.

They dont put things on sale “to make a quick buck” they do it because they have new things they have to put out and customers to please. Also, the average consumer doesnt look at things and wonder how different it is from a predecessor product they wonder how much it would be worth their time and money to buy. A child looks at a toy and their first thought would probably be “How cool this looks” “What can I do with it” and “Do I have anything else similar or related to it”. A parent looks at a toy and wonders “Would my child like this” “Do they have anything similar or related” “What is the cost compared to to other current products” and " How well will my child like this product?"

Nobody that isnt already invested in Bionicle is going to look at a toy and say “Wow that looks cheap compared to older figures, it doesnt have enough detail” , an average child is going to look at how fun it is, not the flaws the set has for display.

Your logic is flawed and im pretty sure your putting your own criticisms of the g2 sets and applying them to everyone who might glance at the sets on store shelves.

Also the reason why summer 2016 sets arnt showing up in stores is because their a toy r us and lego shop exclusives not because the heads of walmart and target said “Hey bionicle isnt selling well, dont buy anymore”

Enough from all of you. The Mods have been watching this, and this arguing is NOT OK. If anyone tries to continue to keep the debate up, you will recieve proper punishment.

I’m especially disappointed in @Mayple and @ShadowWolfHount for bringing up such a nasty argument.

Maybe if you read the rules a little bit, you’d know this site isn’t a place where you get to do whatever you want. We have rules on what you can discuss, and if you don’t want to follow those rules, maybe you shouldn’t be on this site.

Just a suggestion.

Now don’t go around patronizing this off-topic, and, frankly, rather dull rhetoric.

And since off-topic discussion is against the rules of the site, and as Eljay stated a while back, isn’t allowed AT ALL on the 2016 topic, I’m going to have to suspend you.

All of you involved in off-topic discussion as well much earlier will also receive a suspension.

I like to think that the whole prophecy plot hole at the end of this year’s story wasn’t so much Makuta being stupid and arrogant by fighting it with extreme denial, but rather Makuta being sneaky and using it against the Toa and Ekimu. Sure they stopped him, but what if Makuta had accepted that would happen from the very beginning, and his plan wasn’t to really escape, but to create a diversion? By pretending to escape, he not only gets the prophecy out of his way, but the naive Toa as well. Not only did he transfer the MoUP over to himself in the Shadow Realm while the Toa were busy trying to stop him from rising, but he also got his MoCo. From what we’ve seen, it’s easy to go through a portal in the realm it’s opened in (Gali and the stuff Umarak throws in), but extremely hard in the realm you’re trying to connect to (Makuta). Well guess what? Now Makuta has the MoUP shards AND the MoCo. He can open the portal from his side, which means Okoto is his for the taking and no one can stop him.

I know that’s probably not how the ending was intended to be interpreted, but I prefer that headcanon because it makes an underdeveloped and underwhelming villain seem awesome. :stuck_out_tongue:

So in the article that BS01 posted regarding the cancellation of Bionicle, they also mentioned they will be getting and uploading all the concept art from the soon to be released artbook. I wonder what kind of artwork we might see.

Besides the sets, the artwork was the second best thing about this gen.

So, I may be a bit late, but I figure I’ll throw in my two-cents on the debate. I think that ccbs is one of the best things that has happened for Bionicle. The parts are consistent, versatile, and don’t break easily, if ever. I will admit, I like 2016 a little bit better than 2015 set wise, because I think it found the perfect medium betwwen the old and new systems. I really love the piece of unification, especially when properly used.
On a different note, I can’t wait to see that art book. I really love concept art!

I know right

You know what’s funny, I just got this email a couple days ago saying Bionicle was one of the top LEGO themes. Maybe the sales weren’t the problem after all. At this point, though, I don’t know what could have been considering the information Jangbricks gave us.

I could be going on a wing here, but if that image showed that BIONICLE was at one point one of the top themes for LEGO, despite claims that the sales contributed to its early cancellation… someone’s not telling the truth for something they don’t want us to know. But who? And what is it that they are truely hiding?

The themes are just ordered alphabetically in that picture, I can’t see why this should mean that Bionicle is selling well…

That, or maybe I misunderstood your post…

I guess that’s most likely so, which is I why I was skeptical about the email ad in the first place.

Well said.

I think my main problem with G2, mostly with this year, is that all of its references were G1 in nature. The jokes always seemed to revolve around something G1 related, rather than making reoccurring humor with established G2 quirks, memes and phrases. Like, rather than making jokes like “So YOU’RE the Toa of light”, instead have exchanges like "Hey Tahu, can you feel it? Can you feel the powah? " after he runs into Onua’s rock pillar. I just think that there were so many new elements introduced in 2015 that gave G2 an amazing and quirky identity, and that 2016 squandered that by becoming just one big G1 reference/parody instead of developing off of the legacy and general feel the 2015 animations brought.

Nooo, those were awesome. I always welcome Easter Eggs, makes the people research a bit later on.

The story itself was the main problem, the references were not a problem.
