how? still uses gears
the gear box is designed to have the gears in a compact space
I donāt see why some of you like the little toothed gears over the far more practical and superior smooth gears. Seriously though, fumbling around trying to find a way to get gears like that to have both arms in the right position is a pain. I can also say from personal experience that it wouldnāt work if you tried using standard gears like that, the arms are too much weight and the gears need something to hold them at all sides. This also hampers the friction feature in the new sets. Trust me, I MOCād this by making a custom gear box out of technic beams and other parts before the Toa were released and I found out that they used the smooth gear instead.
Actual gears just look aesthetically better. The knob gears make it look more like a toy than a machine.
When Iām drawing the toa I just draw their gearbox as their old one.
@GK733 Thatās all subjective though. Aesthetics should not be placed over functionality. If something works better at what its made to do, then its better. Itās really that simple.
make the gearbox function with toothed gears
How putting them into the right position is a pain, yes it sure was before with mata from metru but now that the arms are connected to balljoints it isnāt actually a problem.
You donāt seem to understand, toothed gears are impractical and awful for moving arms and things of that sort. Iāve literally tried a super accurate MOC, and the gears just end up competing and ripping each other up due to the weight of the arms alone.
@Tarvaxx @GK733 @VictorianPanda Iām pretty sure this is getting super off topic, how about bringing it back around and speculating if weāll gey new gearboxes compatible with fine toothed gears. Or crack theories on how the creatures will be built.
No because iāve done it you just like smooth gears
Hereās my speculation on the gears: In 2016 we will use the same system and LEGO will not make a completely illogical and ridiculous move to go back to using toothed gears.
The creatures will probably be protector sized. The heads will hopefully be a Technic build that uses studs for eyes.
This went from speculation to nit-picking real quick.
I want Lego to try their best to make better sets of the Toa than weāve already gotten. I want to see how theyāll top this yearās sets in 2016.
@gizmohomie
Sure it is, sorry.
While I personally would like to change some things with the gearbox I donāt see them changing the āstandardā of it anytime soon.
So I donāt see them making a new gearbox, recolor of it for some odd reason at best.
I hope we get a new torso and also a new chesplate. If they would use the same torso, the chest piece would need to be very wide and it just⦠wouldnāt look right,
And having a new torso with same chest piece would make it extra gappy.
I hope we get new torso and new chestplate, preferably also new torso shell and new add-on.

[/quote]lego pls
but they are great
āWe havenāt had nothin but clown feet for three stinkin years!ā
Thereās nothing WRONG with the 2.0 feet, it is just that they overstayed their welcome. We really need some new feet. Or perhaps an addon that can fit over the foot.
add pistons that makes everything better
Ladies and gentlemen, weāve hit defcon 4
New parts overall would be nice, especially a new torso
I would like to see a new Torso armor, used on all of them, making them look more like a team, aswell as more addons, maybe even a unique addon for each element. New foots, yeah, we do need that. And maybe the ability to customize them a little bit like the Mata Feet, like, these are so useless.
I would also like to have more new weapons, maybe a new variation of stud shooters (Itās what they do now), new masks, maybe new heads, more Y joints, new shells and more recolors.
But, we canāt go too far away from what we alreayd have. It would be expensive, and it wouldnāt fit in with what we already have established. That goes for the gold too. Removing it would make them look downgraded, but letās not talk 'bout it now.
i think new plates would be nice see no reason why the current add-on couldnāt be made into itās very own plate
these feet can be customized however not much
i made some skis for kopaka out of slicer swords
