Chapter 9: Evil Arrives

In a temple just outside Villa Magna, the seven Matoran Takanuva made deliveries to arrived, surprised to see each other.

“Did Takanuva summon all of you as well?” Macku asked.

“It would seem so,” Kopeke answered. “I see you brought Berix along.”

“Yeah,” Berix said. “I didn’t want to get in the way at Ga-Villa.”

“We have heard of your astounding clumsiness,” Onepu said. “I wonder if you had a lava-farming incident.”

“No!” Berix said. “I can’t go near lava, that’s suicide!”

“As is your coming here,” a voice said in the darkness. All turned in the direction of the voice and saw Ahkmou step out of the shadows, holding a rather large staff.

“Ahkmou!” the Matoran said.

“Takanuva can’t possibly have summoned you!” Macku said.

“Oh, he didn’t,” Ahkmou said. “I came of my own volition.”

“You have no purpose-place in this sanctuary-haven!” Tamaru protested.

“Oh?” Ahkmou said. He then pulled out the Toa Stone he took. “We’ll see about that.”

He held the stone above his head and it shone brightly, forcing the other Matoran and Berix to shield their eyes. When the light died down, Ahkmou had changed in appearance.

“What?!” Hafu said. “He’s a Toa?!”

“Yes,” the transformed Ahkmou confirmed. “Now, to make sure you don’t interfere…” Ahkmou clenched his fist and a cage of stone rose from the ground, trapping the Matoran.

“You won’t get away with this!” Kapura said.

“I already have,” Ahkmou said before he pulled out a small capsule containing a small creature. “Can you guess what this is?”

“A Shadow Leech?” Kopeke said. “But, that’s impossible! They went extinct in the Energy Storms!”

“Oh, they were,” Ahkmou said. “But, I found notes stating that Shadow Leeches were mutated Kraata. So, before our old universe was dismantled, I swiped some Kraata from the Metru Nui archives and used the notes to mutate them into Shadow Leeches.”

Ahkmou then opened the capsule and put the Shadow Leech on himself. As his light was drained, his armor changed color. Ahkmou then threw the Shadow Leech off of him.

“You can’t do this!” Taipu said.

“We won’t let you!” Onepu agreed.

“There’s nothing you can do to stop me,” Ahkmou said before readying the staff.
