BIONICLE G1 Canon Contests Discussion & Questions

Voting phase was supposed to start after 2 days, now its 2 weeks later and there are no signs of voting polls. We are in middle of 2021 and since January nothing was finished, its almost a year since all of this started and we have only 2 finished contests from 12.
What a joke…

I’d much rather they take longer and be done right than be rushed, especially for the Hagah. Though I’ve been against the idea of a Hagah contest for a while now, so I’d be indifferent even if they took another six months :upside_down_face:

I think asking for an update on how things are going is reasonable, but I don’t like this constant impatience from people. We spent four years after G1’s cancellation with essentially no new content, and another four since G2’s. I assume people didn’t go insane in that interim.

Patience, my dudes.

Its not about impatience, its about competence and wasting time. Like that time when they set voting for literally in what order we should vote and then results barelly even changed from initial order wasting a month or all that controversy with Helryx.
Instead of disqualifying that meme they toyed with it until the end, probably we would have much better winner without all that nonsense.
Im betting that G3 will probably arrive before they will finish all of this.

I’ve been a strong critic of TTV especially in this contest, but I doubt anyone could do a much better job. A community project this large, significant and unprecedented is too complex to get perfect the first, second or even the third time around.

I also wouldn’t use the Hagah contest as a direct comparison to the prior two, because it’s presented a whole different set of issues. The reason I have less faith in the Hagah contest is by virtue of this fact (and the fact that I have very stringent views on what a successful outcome for this contest will look like). It’s as if we’re starting at square one again, which is unavoidable.

What I have inferred from this latest contest, though, is that TTV seems pretty drained. Granted, I didn’t watch the Helryx/Artakha contest debates quite as hawkishly as this one; but still, it does seem like they’ve been engaging less with the discussion recently. Half of the questions asked or suggestions made go unnoticed, and of course there’s the aforementioned delay to the polls going up. I wouldn’t put this down to incompetence, though.

I would urge people not to be impatient with TTV for this reason. Some will also say “let’s stop debating the issues with this contest because it’ll make things easier on TTV”, however to this point I have to disagree. Sure, there’s no reason to drag out things like the Metru torso debate; but if people have issues, they need to be talked about. At least if we stop pestering TTV to hurry up, we can have our debates without throwing too much more load on them.

honestly can’t agree, solely for the reason that if ttv is really busy right now, having debates about anything contest related is really gonna slow things because they then also have to moderate (and so far ttv admins have personally handled the moderation for this topic/series of topics regarding the contest)

now disagree so this can become a debate

I disagree for no reason, Ghid.

I really doubt that any debate here has any effect, both negative and positive, on when TTV will open voting polls. That doesnt mean that we cant show our opinion about this delay though.

100% agree

Not what people have been doing. At most people have expressed an frustration about things going slowly or asked if there is an update to be had. Both of these sides have been met with critique for what? asking questions? voicing concerns? If you can’t take critique maybe you shouldn’t be organizing a contest.

You can say whatever you want about “Oh we need to repay TTV for their actions” or “They sure are hard at work with these contests”. All I have to say to that is I don’t owe them anything I’m a patreon despite not recieving all my rewards for said patreon. I’ve sent several superchatts to TTV in the past and I’ve been waiting for the last 6 months not only for this contest to begin but also for it to end and I rather not wait until christmas for it to be over. So I’d say I’ve paid them back enough already. The least TTV can do is show us the fruits of their labor from the last two weeks. Should help cool things down in here

If TTV has something to tell us, I’m sure they will do so. Therefore, if TTV hasn’t given us an update yet, there is likely nothing to tell.
Demanding that TTV take time away from whatever actions they are currently taking to present something obviously unfinished cannot possibly result in the finished project arriving sooner. It can, however, result in the finished project arriving later.
ipso facto, anyone who wants these contests to end soon should have patience. There are no actions we can take that can accelerate the proceedings, but we can make things worse.

I reckon if one of them just says “We’re working on it. We haven’t forgotten”, that will be enough.

I think it’s safe to assume that we will always be in disagreement. A debate about a debate would be especially futile.

Bingo.

We already know. They aren’t just going to drop the ball completely. If you think they are, then … idk, I guess you just haven’t been following the way the admins’ve been acting during these contests.

What you guys continually fail to realize is that every time someone asks what’s taking so long, TTV delays the contest by a month.

The mods are many things but merciful is not one of them.

I disagree. The mods and TTV are two separate entities.
