BIONICLE G1 Canon Contests Discussion & Questions

Or…the Toa of Metru Nui don’t have a standard uniform, so she has nothing to go on. Like Jerm said, we don’t even know if that build is endemic to the city.

Lariska is not such a knight in this analogy. She has seen knights from different parts of the world, and she knows that they all wear armor of some kind, but she may or may not even know how they differ from one region to the next, if they even differ at all. She knows what a Toa looks like, but we have no hard data suggesting that armor is a regional uniform.

because–brace yourself–he was in metru nui

that is anything but a happy occasion

I feel bad for the mods who have to read 200+ new posts a day. Sometimes 200 posts in a few hours.

I feel like the activity here has gone down after the Hagah.

probably because that contest generated a lot of controversy

It’ll go up again once Tuyet starts.

Makes sense to me :man_shrugging:

How about using the upper torso from the Nidhiki titan set of 2004? It’s just replacing the 4 insect legs for regular legs similar to Iruini Hagah’s but in silver, while chaging the original arms which are Rahkshi legs in dark green for 2 Mata arms from Matau Hordika in the exact same color. For the scythe it’s just getting creative with the available pieces from the titan set.

But then he lacks elbows.

It would be an interesting one and while that’s a good idea, the only thing I’m planning on changing is the the silver chest armor if required. Maybe the torso if a compelling enough argument with evidence is made.
Another reason mine is built the way it is, is because you can make him using parts from 2004 to 2005, while also keeping a similar build to existing sets.

Also this, plus he’s not allowed Silver legs.

That’s kind of what I tried for mine, albeit with a slightly different construction:

It ended up kind of blocky, but I personally think it would be worth it for the similarities to the mutated set. Maybe someone can do it better than me and make it look better.

That Mata arm has but can’t bend, it’s just the look of an elbow which i don’t mind.

Dark Green Rahkshi legs with Silver Metru knee armor and feet.

Don’t double post. -Eljay

I actually have that currently on my WIP but its not allowed per the rules. Nidhiki can be shades of Green but no silver armor.

Something like that could be considered as a joke entry and would be disqualified by that. The rule should only mandate “Toa size” which is vague and clear enough for all participans, then the voters would decide if they want a shorter or bigger Toa.

I like your take on Nidhiki

thank god finally someone said it.

EDIT:

Also weighing in on the height restrictions again. As I said restricting entries with an upper or lower cap is is arbitrary and unnecessarily restrictive.

We already have rules in place to allow moderators to DQ joke entrants so any extreme outliers or bad faith entries aren’t going to make it through anyway, so I don’t see the issue. If the fandom wants a nidhiki or tuyet of a certain size then they’ll vote for it, nuff said

I’m sure I mentioned this before, but just to reiterate:

We aren’t imposing a size restriction moving forward, since there is no specific build restriction. Tuyet and Nidhiki will not be mandated to have Metru builds, and they will not be required to be any specific size. A size suggestion has been made in the rules, but it is only a guideline, and not a rule.

Adding on to that, unless anyone can provide us a quote that suggests any other specific type of build for any of the other Toa on the list, there will not be any Toa-style build restriction for them either.

So I was looking up TYQ trio for any missed quotes about their armor and found this:
“5) Could a Toa of Water wear teal “armor”?
5) They could wear any color “armor” they want, it’s “armor”, you can take it on and off”
Official Greg Quotes | Page 3

Does this mean there are Toa in existence who break the normal elemental-armor color connection? Maybe even some of Toa in the main story?

I mean, yes, it does, but not the main toa (nidhiki and tuyet) who are currently in discussion. They’ve both been directly stated in-text to have blue or emerald armor. They may have “out there” accent colors, perhaps, and that would be REALLY cool, but we wouldn’t have a fully red Nidhiki, for example.

However, that quote DOES make looking for specific quotes on armor color pretty important, as I guess it means we can’t make assumptions…? I’d be curious about whether Yesterday Quest toa ever got specific armor colors stated, for example.

Zaria has, Orde and Chiara have not.

Yeah that would be pretty cool. I was thinking more toward Lhikan since we’ve only seen Gold otherwise on Jaller, who was imbued with Lighting.

Zaria is Burnt Orange and Metallic Grey:
“1. With the recent revelation that Iron Matoran (and subsequently Toa, I would assume) have varying armor colors, I have to ask; is Zaria of the burnt orange and metallic grey armor color variation? 1) Yes” Official Greg Quotes | Page 1

Orde is Blue and Gold:
“2. Is Orde blue and gold like every other Toa of Psionics? 2) Yes” Official Greg Quotes | Page 1
Charia seems to be the only one without confirmation.

White and Yellow Charia possible?
