BIONICLE G1 Canon Contests Discussion & Questions

Yeah overall the pure axle version is good for gears, since you can’t stop the arms from moving, while the pin version is for articulation. Thanks for them all! I’ll be testing them out around 7.

It looks like it’s still having a problem. Do they work on your side? Because it might be my PC that is having the problem

The G2 branch is for characters/significant objects that share a counterpart in both continuities (e.g. Tahu, Teridax/Makuta, the Mask of Creation).

Yeah, they work for me. I even deleted them from my computer and redownloaded them from the links.

There’s one thing left that I can think of. This link contains the .dat, .conn, and .col files for all three versions:

I’ve never had to deal with the .coll and .con files before, but I also tend to make most of my custom parts myself from Thingiverse files.

Ok so I’m putting them in the CustomParts sub folders for each in my Appdata folder. Is that the right place for them? Like Collider, Connectivity and Parts

Edit: Tried using the Stud.IO installer but it didn’t work. Looks like I’ll be sticking to the shoulder mod for now. Good news is I can mess around with the parts to create moc ups:

My showcase of the different shoulder designs. If my model wins, the good news is you can switch the middle shoulders with the left ones and have almost the same design to them

I’ll try a full reinstall of Stud.IO tomorrow to see if that’s the problem

So… Is there anyone who can answer this?

I want to know if this connection is illegal or allowed in the contest.

According to this rule:

it should be fine.

Yeah it’s more of a guideline than a law.
Personally I’m ok with this but I know some other users aren’t the biggest fans of possible part damage. Unfortunately, the piece that can replace that connection easily doesn’t come in any shade of green:
90612
Which sucks because anyone who wants to swap it for damage reasons will have to use a color that breaks the color scheme.

As far as the Dume-meeting-Nidhiki thing, the almost-canon Nidhiki story Memory (from Memoirs of the Dead) just says they met previously, and that Dume was a Turaga at the time. In this story, it seems pretty definitive that Dume had no hand in Lhikan becoming a Toa. Again, this isn’t canon, but as it stands the story doesn’t contradict canon, and it almost was.

Also, for Naho, I think it would make sense to mention in the rules that it was a popular idea for her to have a Huna, and that that may sway voters, but not have it be required for either portion. Same for the warhammer.

So I loved the story and honestly I don’t believe Dume had a hand in Nidhiki’s transformation, I just found the knowing his name part weird, which that story would’ve cleared up If it had become canon.

As for Naho, I’ll lean into the stealth and hammer aspect and design her probably off of a Dwarf. Of course taller than Whenua, it makes sense to me that she’d have an easier time slipping past the DH’s if she cast a smaller shadow. Also the bulk to wield a War Hammer helps sell the idea to me

It’s on a gray area, see the Kaita model of Kopaka Mata or canon model Krakua.

For what it’s worth, I’ve never been a fan of the Mata hand in Metru shoulder technique. I think it makes the upper arms awkwardly big.

I’ve haven’t been paying much attention to this topic, but I’d like to try and add something. You’re all trying to make a good shoulder mod for the Metru arm, correct?

I’m not i’m just here for the lols

There’s no good shoulder for Metru Torso.

Here’s one I’ve made

You can also get rid of the bulge on the arm for a pre-bent elbow

The gear function works if you make the friction mod.

that’s pretty cool

It’s a really cool designs, but not one that works with my current MOCs. That aside, thanks for showing it!

Edit: While it could work for some models, the designs I’m using use the top socket for custom armor or details.

Also Side note, I’ve noticed most entries for Tuyet are evil looking, using dark colors and spikes. That’s kinda strange to me, since her whole thing was she looked normal on the outside but evil on the inside. Why not use a brighter color scheme?

So much this. While I’m fine with metru blue for Tuyet, a lot of WIPs I’ve seen so far are too overtly evil for my taste. Y’know, covered in spikes and black and gunmetal and stuff. Bukkey’s strikes a fine balance, but I can’t say I care for the mask.

Bukkey’s stuck out to me since it tried to be less evil, but it still had evil look like you said. Which is why I decided to make a mock-up to see what a more heroic version would look like:

Also, I’m not sure where Gunmetal was decided to be a Ga-Matoran color. I’ve only ever seen Mata Blue, Metru Blue, Medium Blue and Silver.
Sword and Mask would be placeholders, since the serrated edges are supposed to be reversed so they do damage and the mask looks too Predator meets Samurai for a Mask of Intangibility to me.
Might enter this, depends on if I can make the renders in time.

Gunmetal isn’t a Ga-Matoran color, it’s just her armor. One could say that it is because of Hahli Inika, but she was transformed under extraordinary circumstances. Also, I like Galva’s newest revision of the MoI a lot. Much better than the previous ones.
