BIONICLE G1 Canon Contests Discussion & Questions

I see, thank you for your answer! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :revolving_hearts:

For what it’s worth with respect to the GSB discussion, its face was described as ā€œreptilianā€, something that Skakdi were never described as. Now I’m not saying this means we should ban the Irnakk spine, but it’s worth considering when one designs their entry.

this spine looks the most reptilian out of all of them

sorry if im asking this question for prob the thousandth time here but been off the boards for a while; is there an update in if/when next contest will start?

Not to answer for Eljay/Meso, but: they’ve stated that the Tuyet contest will not start until they have a followup meeting with Mask of Destiny, because there is a chance such a meeting will affect the way contests are structured. Last I heard, there is not date for the followup.

Based on nothing but my gut instinct, I’d have to imagine Tuyet would start by march. But don’t cite that as a hard date. It’s really just what I think sounds right. And that’s not a hard fact.

Honestly I always thought the Skakdi were based on Piranhas as a kid, since they had the mouth full of teeth and looked kinda scaley. That and the name Piraka sounding like Piranha.

I think that’s likely. The set designers seemed to have ā€œpirate fishmenā€ in mind, but the marketers gave us ā€œrapping ghetto bioniclesā€ and Greg gave us some DND murder hobos.

So what’s the current stance on 2 Toa sharing the same color scheme? Like Tuyet being Blue and Medium Blue like Gali or Nidhiki as Lime and Metru Green like Lesovikk for example.

In terms of rules, or personal preferences?

There are no rules prohibiting it.

Personally, I mostly don’t care, especially since so many colour combinations have already been used; there’s bound to be some overlap. It’s more important to me that colour scheme works, not whether it’s been used before.

My only preference that is specifically related to shared colour schemes is that we get some variance between Orde and Varian, in terms of shades.

Ok good to double check.

Now personally I’d agree with you that I’d like it if whatever shade of gold and blue Orde uses isn’t the same Varian does but I could live with it if they were.
As for the rest of the Toa, Zaria is the only one I have a special idea for but I’m saving that as a surprise.

Chiara though I’m not sure about my preference. Like I think both Metru Blue or White as the main color work, but part of me what’s to see something different from those 2. It feels like the majority of MOCs are Nikila mixed with Toa Hahli Inika or a Toa of Ice with some darker blues than usual. I’m hoping to see something that will shock me away with its ingenuity as most I’ve seen feel ā€œsame-yā€ Maybe some inspiration will strike me but I only plan on entering Zaria currently.

The Gold skinned being is actually the one I was looking forward to the most. I mean how could anyone not want to see a gold titan sized lizard man moc. Plus I already started my GSB moc and invested a lot of time into it and would be pretty disappointed if it was for not. I mean look at this thing so far. And imagine 100 more like it.

Yo, that’s not how I initially pictured him, brodi, but I think I could definitely love this model! Keep up the great man, man!

thanks, and a follow up since im so out of touch…who exactly are mask of destiny?

They’re a pretty big community site. They used to be larger ala BZPower, but they went out of fashion for awhile. Recently, they’ve started back up their news site and have been organizing community projects like the restoration of the cancelled 2001 PC game, or the Vision of the Great Beings serial continuation.

Yes I definitely took inspiration from this image and any images that depicts the GSB as lizard like. How ever i Am basically just making a recolour of a red dragon moc I made a while back. But having to rethink a few things because the key technic pieces don’t come in gold. So mainly just working on covering them up.

Look I’ve thought about how to answer this since I saw your response and it occurred to me I’m not gonna change anyone’s mind with this arguement.

As you said yourself, you’re already invested in this so there’s like a 99.99% chance I won’t change your mind no matter what I say and that’s completely fine. I think the model looks great so far and wish it was for a character who was more dynamic.

As for everyone now, I still think it’s a pointless MOC contest but it’s obvious that I’m in the minority on this point, as well to repeat what I said above, I won’t be able to change 99.99% of people’s minds on this. So this is the last I’m gonna say anything about the GSB contest unless directly asked.

After all we’ve had enough circular arguing that I’ve unintetionally had a hand in already so I don’t wanna cause any more.

Thanks for the discussion and I wish you all good luck in the GSB contest!

Edit: By the way, are the front teeth placeholders or are they meant to be silver?

Seems to me like the solution is to make his contest a FFA . If a moc wins, it would then be followed by a moc* contest, and if artwork wins, it’d be sent for canonization.
