Remember how they used to make all the gunmetal parts look really shiny on the box art?
Ahh, I love that nostalgic '07 aesthetic.

Remember when LEGO decided it was necessary to smother every set in gold? Good times.
Gold in G2 is like the silver of 2008. Wow, the reboot was more similar than I thoughtâŚ
Maybe that was also an attempt at nostalgia?
LEGO: âHEY GUYS REMEMBER WHEN WE RUINED COLOR SCHEMES FOR A WHOLE YEAR?â
G1 Fans: âMata Nui, please no.â
LEGO: âTAHU UNITER OF GOLD IS HERE EVERYONE!â
uh, only Tahu was cover for the most part in gold, so your complaint is not really that acurate.
the gold is not that prominent for many of the characters, infact only Onua and Kopaka where the only other Toa who had gold and it was not that much.
You might as well have used that complaint on Ekimu in the Skull Grinder vs Mask Maker set.
Someone doesnât get the joke.
In all seriousness, you seem to be clinging and defending G2 a little TOO much. Nothing is perfect, and weâd be remiss not to acknowledge its flaws. As for Kopaka, he was pretty smothered, so my âcomplaintâ if you can call it that, since itâs really just a joke, is a little more valid than youâre giving it credit for. Not that it matters.
Also, Ekimu didnât have enough gold, funnily enough.
The thing with gold is that it used to be such an uncommon and really cool color. Now, itâs become mundane and honestly overused. Not to mention it sticks out like a sore thumb.
for the masks its true, but not so much for the armor for the toa, in my opinion.
Well, I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
On 2015 Kopaka the issue with the gold is it was all clumped into one place, so it looked really⌠bad, to put it simply. I think thatâs why he lost it all in 2016, Tahu stole all of Kopakaâs gold because he was dumb enough to put it all in one place. Silly Kopaka, you canât put all of your gold in one place and expect it not to get stolen.
No. I found it was better. In terms of sets anyway.
Real talk, G2 had way too much metallic and transparent pieces.
How is that a bad thing?
It also was very colourful.
I mean, it was certainly a different aesthetic. I donât know if it was a good one, but it was there.
Iâve been locked out of my account for a while now but Iâve been following the news closely these past few days. Anyway, I thought this might be in order:
so bionicle is dead right? well define dead i mean the ip as a product doesnât have to be active along as the community is alive it is alive so no its not dead its just not being worked on and we all know lego wonât continue the ip after how bad the sales where so how come we canât continue it our selfs i mean the toy is not what matters right so why canât we just continue the story our selfs it could be like a weird fan fiction only its kinda sorta cannon i mean most community made story,s are pretty good all things considered i mean if we did it our selfs it doesnât have to be a reboot we can continue the g 1 or g 2 story so why donât we do that ? i mean wouldnât be cool to make something that explains what happened to kopaka on the red star or how bout what happened to the toa marhi during the battle between makuta teradax and mata nui well if lots of people like the idea ill make a topic for posting continuations of parts of bionicle lore.
Letâs use Tahu as an example:
Ideally, heâd be red, gold, and black, with a different colour for flame effects on his weapons. Instead, he was red, gold, trans-orange, grey, and silver, along with a yellow gear piece just because.
THey were also frequently layered badly. Korgot used her trans pieces well: She had transparent bones, with solid armour over the top. Other sets, however, had solid bone pieces with transparent armour over the top, which just let you see the skeleton through the outer layer and looked bad.
Another example was Gali. She had five Dark Azure pieces. Five. She was blue, trans-blue, silver, gunmetal, yellow, grey, black, and, with her other mask, gold. Three metallic colours in one figure just made her look ugly with the golden mask on.
And the less said about 2016 Tahu and Lewa, the better. Lewa got more silver than 2008.
People have brought this up before, and its a terrible idea. While it may sound good, it wouldnât do anything other then âevery weird fan fiction and oc story is now canonâ. People already make there own stories, but lego cant give the story over to the fans because thatâs not how property works, you cant give an ip to a bunch of disconnected people. Granted they could say that as long the stories were in there own universe and not the g1 and g2 universe, that might work. But then you have the problem of Lego losing its reputation for letting some undesirable stories (Not for children if you know what Im saying) be supported officially.
You may say, "well then they wont support it officially and problems solved, but then its just back to square one where its just the same thing the communityâs always been doing.
I still think you are nitpicking a lot.
I wonder if thereâs any feasible way to convince Lego to release makuta as a limited edition or something.
I was really looking forward to it.
