done. all we gotta do is wait for the reply.
thats not what i mean, they said business reasons but notting like āit sold poorlyā or something like that, they just made it unclear why they canceld it.
some of the twitter messages says that Bionicle G2 sold well, but then why was it canceld?
theres something wrong here, and the other options left is ither a: there is an unknown reason for why LEGO canceld Bionicle, or b: LEGO is lying and is doing damadge control.
So I was wrong about Disney. My apologies to Disney (who probably hasnt been watching anyway) and Mickey Mouse, and everyone who really didnāt like the theory, especially @Forest_westly, who seemed to get particularly upset. I was wrong, and I apologize.
I agree with Henrik. With Legoās own testimony only two options exist:
- There exists some reason that Lego chose to end a well selling line, or
- Lego has lied.
I have several problems with option 2: if Lego lied, then we cannot trust any of their tweets, which means we have no idea how the line sold, if it was a business desicion, or anything. Nothing they say can be trusted unless it can be verified. I also find it disturbing that a childrenās company would lie like this.
I would be inclined to believe option 1, but what is the reason? If it wasnāt sales, (as Lego said), or Disney (as Lego said), then why end the line early? Why not release MoUP? I hate to say it, but to me, (I was already wrong in a big way so take this with a grain of salt), option 2 makes the most sense. Lego has lied.
In fact, theyāve lied before, and we have proof. They said that Bionicle wasnāt coming back even when he had proof from their own website. There is nothing stopping them from lying again.
In light of this, I think the most obvious reason for Bionicle ending is the reason: it sold spectacularly bad. The first and second waves underperformed so hard they ended the line. Lego lied to cover it up.
NO!
slaps illuminati symbol
ITāS A BAD JOKE!
Thatās epic. I love that you actually made a Lego Illumanati.
Can you (or anyone for that matter) find a theory that fits everything Lego said? I really donāt want to believe that they are lying, but the only other option I can conceive is very dumb, and still doesnāt explain why Lego decided not to release Makuta.
So Iām forced to conclude Lego has lied.
How dare you,
donāt you know that everything that has a Mixel eye on it is cute and awesome!?!?!?!

I feel like itās option 1. I agree with Crunchyās Idea:
I still think itād be pretty stupid to cancel a well selling line though.
These are both great ideas, but I still donāt see how either explains why Lego chose not to release a MoUP. It would have made money, right? Lego must have had some reason to believe that the cost of releasing it (or Makuta) would outweigh any gains that they could hope to get. And if the main villain of the line canāt turn a profit, then I think it shows the line itself was losing big.
What if Lego canceled Bionicle because the 2017 story would have led us too close to the ultimate truth [insert stupid 2008 Mistika pun]
???
Lego is Illuminati cumfirmtā¦
I recall it being said on the Podcast that it was for ālegal reasonsā. Not entirely sure what that means thoughā¦
You mean it would have brought usā¦
Closer to the Truth?
What??? Something is legally preventing Lego from releasing something from their own IP, and itās not Disney for SW⦠Who/what else would have motive?
@CaptainOfTheGuard, if you donāt know off the top of your head, thatās okay just say so, but did Lego say it was for legal reasons? And if so, where?
maybe the truth of Bionicle G2 cancelation was because someone sued LEGO. Would not be the first time given Bionicleās historic law suit from the maori people.
Essentially, Iām just going to be reiterating what others have said before me, but Iād still like to voice my opinion on the matter. The story was promising at first, but ultimately underwhelming, mainly because it lacked the substance and depth that gave the G1 story weight. The sets themselves were fine, I liked them quite a lot. In my opinion, the reason why the sets didnāt sell isnāt because their target demographic had lost interest in their product, but rather Lego didnāt give them a reason to want the product in the first place. In the end, I hope that the abrupt cancellation of Bionicle actually reinvigorates the fandom, and to an extent it already has. All this new activity in the aftermath of Bionicleās end is rather comforting in an odd way, because the fandom as a collective shares the loss. We identify with each otherās pain, and thatās important. If we stay together and continue to produce content, weāll keep the fandom alive.
Just checked the podcast, āfor legal reasons they werenāt allowed to send one home with the fansā which probably means that they couldnāt give it to the people that interviewed the BIONICLE Team. So they werenāt referring to a public release. As to why it wasnāt officially released I have no clue.
Okay, thanks. I just read all of Legoās tweets from Jul29 to now, and they donāt mention any legal reasons (or any at all) for releasing the MoUP. Iām compiling a collection of their tweets about Bionicle (minus any repeated concepts) which I will post here.
EDIT: Here it is
Quake Beast is ALREADY marked as āCall to Check Product Availabilityā on S@Home. No retiring soon button, no sale, no anything. I already bought the summer wave, but if anyoneās missing any sets, Iād recommend buying them ASAP. Interestingly enough, out of the mere ten sets still available for purchase on Shop at Home, Pohatu Uniter, Ketar, and Skull Scorpio are all still available, despite being largely considered the three worst G2 sets (though I personally like Pohatu); as well as, if my local retailersā clearance sections are any indicator, the worst selling. Pohatu is the last Toa set to be retired, and Skull Scorpio is the last Skull Villain to go.
I checked that a couple of days ago and Lava Beast was like that too, but now he is back to normal. Sometimes it just means they have to make more or are back ordered.
Iām going to be That Guy and say that honestly, Iāll take 2008 Lewa. I loved mine before the joints all broke because MOCing, and TBH, not having a gear function is something a selling point for me. I mean, yeah, I already have 2015 Lewa⦠twice⦠but Iād still rather have a complete 2008 Lewa.
Bionicle G1 sued LEGO for copying its story and disrespecting its cultural heritageā¦(I made a not funny joke, robot laugh: ha ha ha)
Closer to the Truthā¦then Bye Bye Babylon.
I know Iām lateā¦but just now have I decided to share my thoughts on Bionicleās ending:
Unless youāve been living under a rock, Bionicle Generation II has unfortunately been cancelled, most likely due to bad sales and a lack of a younger audience.
Personally Iām disappointed to see Bionicle go away once again, but Iām not mad at all.
Lego has given me the chance to relive my childhood, something I thought Iād never get back. With that I thank TLG. Without the continuation of Bionicle, I doubt I would have ever joined this community and met and became friends with you all.
So you may be wondering, now that Bionicle is goneā¦what are you going to do now, leave the community?..sorta.
Though Iām not leaving entirely, I will be gone for awhile, some personal reasons, but mostlyā¦Iām (although not entering the Makuta contest) making a MOC to show my thank youās to Lego for making everything I have possible.
Yes, some of you know what Iām talking about.
But even so itās impossible to put all my feelings into a single MOC, but Iām trying to do something special here.
ā¦and you people should do the same. Think of how fortunate we are to have had Bionicle return. And although some of us wish it to have continued for longerā¦you should be grateful that we even got Bionicle back.
As we move forwardā¦do not let Bionicle die.
We are the Bionicle community, we stand for something.
Let the legend of Bionicle continue, and Bionicle may come back to you.
Let us look forward now, to what new Constraction themes and sets Lego shall bestow upon usā¦and to what new fans, MOCists and friends we shall meet.
Let us share with themā¦the legend we were lucky to experience.
Thanks for the read.
