2 years ago now I uploaded my first attempt at a Mask of Light styled Tahu Nuva, and recently I stumbled across the custom Kanohi designed by Gabby94 on Etsy, and decided I had to have another attempt.
Ultimately, I didn’t want it to be 100% accurate to the details of the film model but more of an in-between version of the official set and the movie one, with great range of motion in the joints being a priority for this version.
I hope you all enjoy, he was fun to make and I would love to have a go at the other Toa, it just may take another 2 years lol (or be impossible without painting parts, looking at you Lewa and Pohatu)
Also, here is a bonus pic that appeared on my camera without my knowledge. If anyone knows how this got here, please let me know. It’s a little scary. This is a link to the original 1.0 version
This is one of those builds that looks really simple and cohesive at first glance, but upon further inspection actually has a lot more going on build wise. Love the torso (how’s the posing stability with a single ball joint?) and shoulders especially. Only critique is that the finger design looks a little weird with the way they are permanently bent. Would standard exo force drone arms look too large on him?
True, in my mind I didn’t acknowledge I was using Gobricks (bootleg parts) painting seems like a bigger sin to me xD
Thanks for the compliment, the stability is pretty good actually. Maybe its just my Glatorian neck part or the connectors, but the joint is very stiff even without a CCBS friction adder.
Also, unfortunately yes, I did try the exo force arms. they threw off the proportions a bit, theres probably something I can do better with the hands though. I’ve recieved similar criticism.
