Doctor Who Discussion Topic

When Rose Tyler becomes the “BAD WOLF” she scattered the Bad Wolf name across time and space. I feel the same thing has happened with the image of the Vahi.

The Doctor Who Topic has Regenerated!

Watched most of New Who up to and through The Time Of The Doctor, though I skipped a bunch of Tenth-Doctor episodes, (This should go on the unpopular opinions topic, but I think ten is seriously overrated. Not bad, but not amazing either) and am waiting for the chance to marathon Series 8 on Netflix. I also saw The Three Doctors from the classic series.

You’re in for a treat with Season 8, but skip “In the Forest of the Night”–it’s one of the worst episodes in a while. Also, I agree that Tenant is overrated, though I do think he’s really good–just not any more than the others.

Okay, sounds good! I look forward to it.

Yeah, it’s kind of a tough competiton when you’ve got Eccleston, Smith, Troughton, ect. to compare against. When “Best doctor” discussions pop up, I just default to Eccleston since he was ‘my’ first doctor. Making an objective rating based on quality is rather difficult to do. (I know lots of people bash on Colin Baker, but the general impression I’ve gotten is that the problem was more with the showrunner and writers than his acting or the character of Six.)

I could never do that. I got into Doctor Who through a friend who flat-out refused to let us jump around in the timeline/skip eps because of all the interwoven plotlines.

As for the Doctors, I really like 10 because of his charisma and vulnerability. But Eccleston was my first as well, and he had quite the impact on me. And Matt Smith is just so darn fun.

So in the end, all of the Doctors have a different special place in my heart.

Kill the Moon was even worse :persevere:

Flatline was really good though.

Hurray. Yet another season I’ll have to wait to watch until either Netflix or Hulu can be bothered get off their lazy backside and update the show.

I’m alright with Missy coming back this season, but Daleks, as much as I love them, should skip this season (they even have the same old same old design too).

Some of this stuff looks pretty interesting though.

I dunno. Since season 5, they’ve restricted themselves to about one relatively low-key Dalek episode per season, the exception being the Day of the Doctor. (Relative, in this case, to their appearances in the earlier seasons, when they were almost constantly about to destroy the Earth/humanity/existence itself.) They didn’t even feature at all in season 6 apart from a cameo or two. Plus, they set up a potentially interesting plotline in “Into the Dalek” with the rouge Dalek. So personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing them again.

They make more of an impression when they don’t appear every season.

Season 6 was a good break.

In general, they need to change the dalek design for them to be fresh again.
I get that didn’t go over well when they changed the design in season 5, but they’ve been using the same one since season 1 (of the new series).

(They also need to kill people whenever they make an appearance so they can be taken somewhat seriously, as morbid as that may sound)

10 months later, still in the same situation

I feel like the end of Matt Smith’s run was done rather well, with all the emotions coming out of my eyeballs. But when we got Peter Capaldi, I feel like the show lost some of its “Doctorness”. I’m not saying Capaldi was a bad Doctor, but he is not having the same impact that the last three had on me. But I will admit, Eccleston accomplished more in his year as the Doctor compared to Capaldi.

Unfortunately, daleks have to appear every season. It’s part of BCC’s contract with Terry Nation’s estate.

Good news, everyone! Well, everyone in the US, that is. >.<

Wow, The BBC usually only does this sorts of thing for their UK based fans. It looks like they just needed some good, old 'merican love. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Okay. I love the Dalek supreme (the white one from the new Dalek paradigm.) but am I the only one that wants the Emperor back? He was so menacing and I loved how you could see the big mutant thing (what are those things in them? Brains? Whole bodies? Weird is what they are. But good weird, ya.) he is so much more menacing then, (what he is dumbed down) Ooo he is so much more cooooool then the other daleks cause he is the exact same but white and with a deep voice cooooooooool! But seriously <3 to the emperor, he will shine in Lego Dimensions!

They’re the actual Daleks creatures. The stereotypical eye-stalk mounted salt shakers are the Dalek’s armour/exo-suit.

I know it was just a joke! They were originally humanoids whome were mutated by davros. And the salt shakers with eye stalks are mark three travel machines :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
