These two are the only Exo-Force sets I have. I really liked the set concepts, and the mini-bots inspired me.
I had all the ones from the first year. Unfortunately I never got any from the next 2 years, but I was still very invested in the story.
I got one from the first year (the small tan robot machine); I also got two from the Golden City: the Iron Condor and the small black/orange robot machine.
Exo-Force was pretty neat. The sets were really nice, but the head pieces were awful. I liked Bionicle more so I only got this set:
How were they awful? And are you referring to the anime-styled faces or the rubber hair pieces?
Looks like rubber was in style in 2006 and 2007
I didnāt like the two-faced heads where both of the faces looked bad or the giant spiky hair. Giant eyes donāt work on small heads.
So you just didnāt like the style. Thatās your opinion. The heads arenāt objectively āawfulā.
Can opinions even be objective?
Nope. Opinions are fundamentally subjective because they are based around an individualās likes and dislikes that have been shaped by their own life experience. But words like ābestā and āworstā have an extremely objective connotation. The problem is that most of the time people use them to describe opinions. And so they wind up sounding like theyāre trying to pass off their opinions as absolute truth.
Iām not at all trying to say that you came off sounding this way. Iām sure that wasnāt your intention. The paragraph above is really directed more towards the hundreds of passing-opinion-off-as-fact comments/posts Iāve seen on the internet over the years.
Iām a bit late but I just HAD to reply to this topic because Exo-Force is my favorite lego theme next to bionicle. I had lots of set from the 2007 and 2008 waves of Exo-Force and iām about to order three 2006 Exo-Force sets off bricklink, Iāll just put pictures here:
I can confirm, the latter two are amazing and you should get them.
Ah Exo-Force, the only time lego attempted anime, and did a nice job with it. I only ever got one set around Christmas time 'cause I was going through a dark age at the time. Itās too bad, there were a lot of great sets.
Anyone remember the Exo-force books written by Greg Farshtey? They were pretty gr8.
Unfortunately I never got to read them
Ok, I know this is an old post, but it was manga not anime.
@Likus See above.
I still wish that Exo-Force lasted a couple years later, mostly because I thought 2008 was a bad send off set-wise, and I think a TV show could have been awesome and carried the theme a little further. I remember my first set was the Cyclone Defender.
When I was little, I actually thought the Bridge Walker vs. White Lightning set was from 2007 and I never knew the Supernova set ever existed.
To be honest, I never really owned a set from this series, due to it ending shortly after I got into Lego. I have gained interest, however, and have been looking at some eBay listings. Iāve seen plenty of cool sets, but Iām not sure which ones to get. Any sets you would recommend? Also, Iām curious, was there a good story behind this series? I love good stories.
there was a comic series acting as the story, but drawn in anime-ish style. the sets were great, but I missed out on the majority, since i got into it the last wave. tbh, iām probably slightly biased because i mainly build system mechs and robots, and the sets were cool. oh, and recommended sets
Sentia Headquarters: basically the HQ for wave one.
Striking Venom: big bad of a wave
those are just suggestions, truly any of the mechs are good, especially the year 1 and 2 ones. year 3 was not as good as itās successors. also you might want to buy the new ball joints, as all the ones in those sets would crack, like bionicle.
I never got any sets, but I played the crap out of the Deep Jungle game.
Man I loved the loading screenā¦
Yeah, that was one of the best online games Lego ever made (though thatās not really saying much)
