Helryx, the Disturbingly Frail (Canon Contest #1 | The First)

I think the simplicity and choice of parts kinda give it a mata-y feel. Could just be the Pakari though.
G1 mostly wasn’t bad, it’s just that the sheer ridiculousness remind me of the sometimes plain stupid looking combiner models. Also she’s supposed to be the first Toa, so it makes sense that the design isn’t really advanced.

Consider the Rafflesia plant.

You know, I decided to look at this situation as a whole and you know what I saw? This awful irony: 129 entries from people who cared about this contest and built the best they could were beaten by the only one entry that was built with no care or thought put in it, that was built as a joke. That just overwhelmed me…

I know that I care too much about a toyline that ended 10 years ago. But there’s the reason: I also participated in this contest and when I was building my Helryx, I thought: “I’m not gonna win, my entry will be smashed by a much, much better one”. Hoseryx won. All those good or sometimes magnificent creations ended up being worse than four hoses connected by few technic pieces. I won’t blame anyone or criticise their opinions. I just hope that next time people will think about what they build and vote for.

I made my account too late to actually vote (only reason I made an account) but why were 70-something votes removed from this entry? There was so much wonderful fanart of this one.

awfully bold of you to assume i’m not being serious.

Hoseryx didn’t win, though.

If 70 votes were removed, it’s because they were duplicate accounts or invalid votes in some way. TTV has made it clear they are impartial in this matter, but they are vetting every single vote in the final poll.

I’m so sorry, I seriously thought you were joking, oops

@TotalMaddness Oh, thanks for letting know! I couldn’t keep up with what was going on, my internet connection was awful lately… Pretend you never saw that sad message

i’ve seen plenty of joke MOCs back when i used to be active, and this sort of parts usage here never happened. it was always super quick inika builds or badly cobbled together CCBS builds.

hell, who’d bother using the zamor bendy tubes for limbs instead of just using normal axles? it’s unorthodox to the extent where I can dismiss the notion that it’s a joke.

I guess it doesn’t matter now. Joke or not, it didn’t win, so we have to move along. But surely Hoseryx will never be forgotten

If nothing else, at least Hoseryx could be a moe super deformed version that appears on-screen whenever Helryx gets flustered. Kinda like Chestnut Puck in Berserk, except he doesn’t appear that way when he gets flustered.

What were the criteria for removing votes?

Oh, I don’t give a ■■■■ about whether or not it did well in the contest. I appreciate it on its own merits.

Stuff like fake emails, amount of time spent on the site, etc. idk details

Thanks for the answer. If someone does know specifics I’d like to hear, though.

They’re not revealing them all so people can’t look for loopholes

How would that make any loopholes? How are we supposed to trust them removing votes if they don’t provide criteria for how votes were removed? It’d be the exact same as them removing votes arbitrarily.

I haven’t seen any people complaining about the unfair or groundless removal of their votes by the crew. It means that they (the crew) have done it without cheating or result manipulation. Fair enough?
