It’s not that I did’t understand it. I know all too well as to how bee hives work. I just decided to overlook it.

we are dealing with a giant humanoid bee here. Queen could literally just be a title in the same way we’d use it, like, she’s part of the royal family or something.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to throw the mechanics of real world bees out of the window if he wants his character to be gay. I don’t know why he bothered to specify it, but ‘that’s not how bees work’ isn’t really a valid criticism in this context.
