Hey guys! So, I don’t know how it is now, but back in the day Bionicle saw a very active subgroup of homeschoolers. Some were more traditional religious homeschoolers, others were just looking for an alternative to public education, but it’s always surprised me just how many homeschoolers were active in the fandom.
I’ve spent my entire education up until college being homeschooled, so it’s always interested me how, where and why others did the same thing. I figured there should at least be a place to discuss it. Homeschoolers get a bad enough rap for not being social enough as it is.
(Also, for those who don’t know, that’s entirely BS about social life unless you’re Eljay; my social life is pretty active and also consists of many homeschoolers. We’re hilarious. I’m thinking about uploading some videos someday. Maybe.)
I really can’t tell if you’re joking or not, but I should not be commenting here because I’m not home-schooled (I do know someone who has and he’s really nice and one of my good friends)
I’m homeschooled, but get out of the house as often as possible. I like people and being with people, so I take some charter classes, and I have one college class. I’ve been homeschooled my whole life, but I like it, I still get to be totally active with other homeschoolers and other friends, but I get benefits like being able to graduate from highschool a year early, making this, my Junior year, my last year.
My childhood dream was to be home-schooled, as most of my close friends I did NOT go to school with. I never was able to convince my parents, however. Even if I was, I was very active in club sports not connected through school, so I would’ve been adept socially either way. I kinda wish I was, but, looking back, my public school career wasn’t so bad.
I was homeschooled until 11th grade, then I went to public school for the last two years of school. And even then, the school I went to was small–there were nine people in my grade total.
(which is why I’m about as socially adept as Eljay)
I was pulled from public school after a single semester of 1st Grade. It seems that certain issues I have did not do well in a school enviroment, and I would have meltdowns every night after school. I was homeschooled with Sonlight all the way up until this year, when I finally returned to public school.
My parents always went back and forth and mismatched curriculums. We did Math-U-See for a good several years, then Saxon (blech) and then VideoText. I did a lot of Abeka, some Latina Christiana, Mystery of History, Andrew Pudewa, and Apologia Biology and Chemistry.
