Uh, hey.
Just came up with an interesting torso design that might help some of you finally find a use for those old 2001 Toa gearbox body trunks. And it even has waist articulation!
Simply position it as if you were building anyone else but Pohatu, attach the hip sockets width-wise with the actual socket facing the same side as the chest, insert two Hordika necks instead of legs, and use those new perpendicular axel/pin connectors (the ones with the axel, not the axel slot) to attach them to the pinholes of a 2003 Matoran/Vahki chest gear. From there, you can go with either the 2003 Matoran, 2003 Rahkshi, or Vahki method for constructing the actual hips, depending on your personal preference. You can also insert a Vahki chest plate into the technic beam hole on the bottom of the trunk for some additional shoulder friction, if you don’t like the idea of the arms constantly flopping around, or use something akin to the old Nuva method on the back, just with a newer ball joint (the ones where the axel goes all the way through) and another socket connector instead of stationary interlocking gears.
Happy building! Hope this helps!
Provided visuals.
The figure in question is still a WIP, so please excuse the Mata neck that currently goes nowhere and the lack of back armor/minor detailing.
So, I’ve recently managed to find a pretty interesting Hf based illegal connection involving the V1 chest plate and a metru foot, and it’s fairly stable too!
Now here’s the thing with this, while it is quite a stable connection do such it is not perfect, there is some looseness and if you plan to do some form of atop-motion/similar with this moc do expect it to fall off after being handled… roughly, if not secured through use of like an elastic band or some-such.
But, as said before it is a stable connection, and it won’t fall off unless you really fiddle with it’s connected piece or try to pick up the moc by this connection.
Some chests also will together better than others, such as with the Bulk one, which is the best connection I’ve found yet. And (as you can see below) this is not faked and can be supported by just the metru foot (it can also carry a good amount of added weight but definitely not a full, Toa sized moc).
