If You Could Remove One Character From BIONICLE

I would remove LoSS or Solek

Probably Krakua, he had no personality and didn’t do anything important in the story except foreshadow to Vakama the Toa Inika.

I wanna give him more character in my own story.

I’d remove Krekka. He’s really nothing special.
Contrary to the story importance of Nidhiki, Krekka was some dumb grunt thrown into the story, Jar-jar style. besides being a minor antagonist, he was just some stupid dark hunter, and a terrible set. If anything, Nidhiki could’ve been paired with some more story-significant character, like… well, ANY other dark hunter would work. Krekka is, in total, a terrible set, and a terrible character.

On the other hand, Solek could also be removed. Of the three Av-Matoran, he was blander than the others, and generally boring, outside of ā€œohey i is studied mythsā€. I’m sure Mesonak wouldn’t have been so antagonistic towards the lone white Av-matoran if he didn’t exist.

Oh, and Ehrye, too. He wasn’t of much importance (for example, his Biosector page is practically a stub), and wasn’t necessary. A more characterized Ehrye, like Solek, would help SO much more.

Don’t agree with you there. He has a good amount of info on him.

Oh, true. Reading this, I realize he was a good character. Excuse the earlier mention of Ehrye.

True, Krekka is little more than a bumbling brute, but that’s just it- he and Nidhiki were chosen because they were both reasonably expendable to The Shadowed One. He didn’t want them dead of course, but they were the kinds of operatives he was willing to hire out. In that way, he acts as a foil to the rest of the organization.

It’s very possible that Krekka was sent as a hindrance to Nidhiki- a way to keep him busy in a way that would ironically keep him on-task, instead of, say, exacting petty revenge on certain Metru Nui residents he used to know. As he was a former Toa of Air, I challenge the notion that his specific harassment of Kongu and Matau were happenstance or explicitly related to any of their jobs.

I can’t speak for or against his set (as I’ve never owned or seen it unboxed), though I will say that it’s usage in the Ultimate Dume combiner should also count, as in this case the sum of his parts may very well exceed his whole.

Totally subjective (I personally liked it except the lack of arm poseabilty).

The reason for him being in the story is the very same reason you wanted him gone. He is meant to be the stupidest thing known to matoran kind. As @E44 put it he’s expendable. Afterall as you probably know Krekka died along with Nidhiki when absorbed into Teridax. Wouldn’t you prefer some expendable Dark Hunter died that way instead of a more interesting one?

i would remove all of the insignificant characters from 2009 . . oh wait that is pretty much all of them

I would remove,Mata Nui, because it’d screw up Bionicle’s entire plot, and I’d like to know what would’ve happened.

Tren Krom. There’s no stupid story reason, but his character is a powerful, whatever mata nui is being that’s kinda just that for the sake of it. He adds pointless complexity to the story and has no real reason to exist, other than to just be there.

I’m trying to think of any outright Mary Sue characters rather than characters that I simply dislike. I actually think Greg did a fairly good job of keeping characters that were way too powerful for the sake of being powerful or got too much attention in all forms of media out of the story. There really aren’t any characters that I’d just remove.

A lot of decent characters in other forms of media such as Tuma and Berix got pretty ruined by TLR, but I don’t think that particularly counts.

Can you guys think of any characters that’re way too powerful or important for a stupid reason?

I don’t know, I enjoyed his presence and I felt he was justified. Plus, what good story doesn’t have a nice Lovecraftian character?

Click. Completely unnecessary and one of the reasons why I felt TLR was dumbed down.

The Stars, because they really had absolutely no purpose

It kind of already is. I mean, the Great Beings could’ve been people for how little we know about them.
@Toa_Of_Shadows, He filled up screen time in The Legend Reborn
I personally think that the Vaki should be replaced with actual characters.

Pues… that makes sense as the Vahki came about to replace actual characters. If The Makuta of Metru Nui hadn’t been discretely knocking off the Toa Mangai, the City of Legends wouldn’t have had a shortage of order enforcement. Certainly The Makuta benefitted from the exchange- as robots obey their orders blindly they wouldn’t get suspicious of Turaga Dume acting less compassionately because they lack the processing power to account for such a parameter. They weren’t Awakened beings, so they lacked a Toa’s intuition and sense of ā€œmoral light,ā€ if you will.

Awakened Vahki characters would certainly be fun to have seen, and we got kind of close in 2005 with the post-Cataclysm killing machine ā€˜personalities.’
However, after understanding the circumstances of their creation it’s pretty hard to argue that they should’ve been entirely different from how they were, especially knowing that if they had been too smart it would’ve be a detriment to the Main Villain’s plans. He had no reason to sabotage himself, right?
