this exists now
I get the feeling this will be another “big bang” theme that ends after 3 years of being inferior in profit to Ninjago, but what do you think?
what’s with their ridiculously over-detailed shoes
This gives me Lego Universe vibes
What is the premise of this
to my understanding, it’s about lego people in the ‘real world’ who discover that there’s a dream world and then do dream things
You mean they go back to the Lego world immediately
no like they’re in lego Brooklyn and then go to lego dream land
when I said real world I meant like the real world to the lego people
seems interesting
this is almost assuredly another theme that’s gonna have some absolutely amazing sets that dies after 3 years
now that the images are out, 1/3 of my theory is correct
Looks like another form of Nexo Knights, or Monster Fighters. An odd premise, good parts, and a story that’ll die unfinished.
My gut says this feels like another line with some kind of technological or app integration, like Hidden Side and Vidiyo. Real world vs dream world even seems like AR integration
I don’t think it will outdoor Ninjago but it does seem promising as a new original theme. The premise and designs are appealing for a modern Lego IP, though I’m hoping that they won’t play it too safe with the surrealism.
The slime mech guy looks like he could be constraction based, which will be interesting to see
we’re the Mario Brothers and plumbing’s our game
My thoughts exactly. Though I bet it’ll have a legacy of some pretty cool pieces, and that slime guy looks great.
While I am very glad that we’re finally getting another original theme, I can’t help but feel worried about its success. Ninjago is also having a massive “soft-reboot” release this year, exactly at the same time as this new theme. So there’s going to be a lot of direct competition, especially with all this cross-promotion that they’ve done.
If I were in LEGO’s shoes, I would have released this new theme either before the Ninjago reboot wave, or after it, when interest in Ninjago wouldn’t have been at the highest. I’m afraid this might lead to yet another Chima vs Ninjago situation, where two similar themes with a similar target demographics compete for shelf space, inevitably causing one of them to lose sales to the other. And if history is anything to go by, Ninjago usually always comes on top.
Another thing that concerns me, is the theme’s title itself. “Dreamzzz” just doesn’t sound like a cool name that would attract kids’ attention. “Ninjago” sounds cool. “Bionicle” sounds cool. But “Dreamzzz”? It kind of gives me the same strange, cheesy vibe as “Vidyo”, which we all know how that one turned out.
I really hope that the sets and the TV show will be good enough to carry the theme, but given its strange title and competition with Ninjago, I am seriously worried about its chances of coming on top.
I could see them being either an axl-esque bigfig, or something like that brick built groot figure with the giant specialized head/shoulders element
I have been out of the loop with LEGO stuff for a while now, and expected this to be a topic about the LEGO.com flash game.
I’m assuming we just have this image, or do we have set images already?
No set images yet, but there are a few pictures promoting the show
The set names have also been leaked!
I’m now noticing that the TV show is called “Dreamzzz: Trials of the Dream Catchers,” and I think something along of “Dream Catchers” (or Dream Catcherzzz) would have been a better choice for the theme’s name.
Looks to be very abstract
Exactly what I now think.
Having now seen the wave of sets, I’m very excited about just how WEIRD this line will be. My favorites are mashups of random things like the turtle van and the gator-car. I prefer them to the more standard fantasy stuff like some of the villain sets, although I have to admit the Nightmare Shark ship look epic
