Yeah, it’s a Lego castle set
It is not the same. I prefer the aesthetic of the classic Lego Castle sets. There is something charming about it to me. Nowadays Lego Castle feels too plain yet stylized. Needs more of the rustic feel of the OG, because that felt far more medieval.

While Castle is a very important theme, Bionicle has also had a huge impact on the lego company. It saved lego from bankruptcy in the turn of the century, and was the #1 best selling toy in some years. It had successful comics, movies, and games. We’ll get more castles. We’ll get more spaceships. But will we get more Bionicle? Maybe not. Bionicle is such a unique theme, and In my personal opinion, it’d be a shame if it were overshadowed by something like Castle or Town.
Vote for what you’d enjoy. You don’t have to vote for Bionicle if you’d rather have something else. However, that said, I do ask that you consider the fact that if Bionicle doesn’t win this, we may never see an official bionicle set ever again.

I have considered the points you’ve said, I understand that. But hopefully people don’t just treat this as “Biovival 3.0” instead of a project to reflect the ultimate legacy of LEGO in the last 90 years. And to be honest, most of these themes in the list do not represent such a long history, neither does BIONICLE. Hence why Castle feels best to me: it is one of the oldest, one of the most consistent, and IMO it’s evolution also shows the evolution of LEGO’s set design strategy perfectly.
But I do understand the appeal of wanting BIONICLE to finally have some respect, and indeed, this is a rare opportunity.

the last Castle line we had was, what? 2013?
Same with Space, and with Pirates ending in 2011 when LEGO got the Pirates of the Caribbean license? I think that era of themes might have finally faded out in favor of ever changing licenses.
I haven’t been able to vote yet (I can’t seem to track down the email address associated with my old ideas account), but I’m kind of wondering at the logic behind splitting up Space and Castle votes into subthemes. Kinda splinters that crowd quite a bit. I’m planning to vote for Bonkle, Rock Raiders and Alpha Team, as those were all themes I enjoyed as a kid (Rock Raiders pretty much only through the computer game).

So that’s what the voice in the back of my head that said 2016 instead of 2013 was. I wouldn’t qualify that as an evergreen Castle theme, though, any more than I’d consider Ninjago to inhabit the same space as Ninja '98.

Agreed. They are honestly their own things.
I am also annoyed that they separated the Space and Castle themes. Seems like a good way to have them just be separated at the start and lose votes compared to the single themes. Perhaps Lego wanted to appeal to sub-theme lovers but this kinda contest doesn’t work well for that IMO.

Yeah, I’m voting for Bionicle. Also, in the sub-themes tab, how about we ask ‘em to let Greg continue the Serials? Does this automatically guarantee they’ll let him get back on it? Not really,— but it would help hopefully bring it to the forefront of their minds.
No lazy vacuum salesman ever persuaded someone to become a new customer, after all!

how about celebrating it with a line that enabled this 90th anniversary in the first place - the one without which LEGO would have never escaped their financial sinkhole?
Yes Bionicle finally needs some well deserved recognition. It is long overdue.
