Darn, when I saw this news, I was really hoping this might be our one opportunity to get some acknowledgement for a theme that has gotten so little as of late: Galidor. Very disappointed it’s not on the list, I don’t think I’ll be voting, because I’m not really interested in any of the themes that are on there.

Emphasis on may dude. There are several LEGO ideas projects that all you need to do is support and they can’t ignore us forever. I understand what a rare chance this is and Bionicle will be one of the 3 I vote but a set based off a system set/range sadly does make more sense as those system ranges are primarily what Lego has done over 50 years.

I’m really sorry but I disagree. Bionicle played a pivotal role in helping Lego but the financial crisis for Lego reached its peak in 2004 where the company put itself up for sale. Bionicle didn’t stop that disaster from happening. It was a mixture of shear luck that Hasbro etc didn’t buy the company and a group effort from several up and coming ranges (including Bionicle) that saved the Lego group.
I love Bionicle too man, that’s why I’m here but I think there are more universal set options available for this anniversary, we can always submit Ideas sets.

Also lol if Bionicle doesn’t make it just vote time cruisers as @Eilrach said, it would be quite funny getting a “time travel” set for this event plus it’s a infamous line :stuck_out_tongue:

why exactly

Because sooner or later a idea will be in a selection pool with weak/unpopular ideas that it can beat and Lego is a fairly nice company who despite salty bonkle fans thinking Lego is purposely ignoring them Lego will make a set if support is shown or if the market is assured. A figure like the GSR or Tahu will sell better than a structure like Sokodas as it is interesting to casual fans or those who just want a ‘cool robot’

Edit: I know people are cynical after Sokodas idea not making it but read above, it sadly was too niche in Lego’s eyes. A different idea may prove popular with a larger audience and thus more marketable to Lego’s general audience.

This part doesn’t really matter. Lego has shown that they are willing to Fail every model in a review.

But the rest of it is spot on: if we keep giving them Ideas, and show that Bionicle can consistently get support, they’ll hopefully eventually see one that they like.

They’ve dumped all the winners before

G2 cough

no we were cynical before that too

Bruh I never can win can I?
My real point is that we don’t have to give up submitting ideas and supporting those ideas.

That is true. But this right now is the best chance we currently have, so we should use it.

Also was thinking about it, this 90th set thing will be released in 2022 not 2021 so it’s even less fitting having bionicle as the one set as it would no longer be Bionicles 20th.

It not about Bionicle’s 20th, though. It’s about TLC’s 90th. Just because the dates don’t synergize doesn’t mean we should use it as a reason not to support it.

Good point. I still think Lego won’t celebrate their 90th with a Bionicle homage and if they’re forced to by this vote it’ll be annoying all the non-bionicle fans.

and how is that different from if, say, Castle won? Wouldn’t that just annoy the non-castle fans?

It doesn’t have to be about “showing LEGO we care” or “finally getting what we deserve” or some other emotional or existential or moralistic nonsense. It can just be BIONICLE fans uniting to win a poll.

It’s not different. I don’t really want this vote to begin with. I personally think a fan designed theme amalgamation would be more suitable as a set that isn’t one particular theme and is instead a celebration of 90 years of creativity with the LEGO system etc

Edit: and what racie said, some Lego fans are rabid about Bionicle not being ‘pure’ lego. Not that that’s a reason to back down from voting.

Edit: @winger I’m sorry if I’m being antagonistic, I feel bad that I’m arguing like this, you have your opinion, I have mine, I’ll not bring mine up again.

Response:

Who cares?

Quite frankly, those people are pretentious morons, and we shouldn’t let them get in the way. So what if they want to complain about fair contest results? That’s their problem.

Here’s the way I see it.

Lego’s 90th anniversary is coming up. To commemorate that, they decide to release a product from one of the classic themes. Bionicle is one of those themes, and since they are using a poll to determine the set, Bionicle fans get a chance to get some sort of gratification for their favorite theme.

Done and done. There’s no need to discuss about what the chances are of it happening, whether it’s fair or not to non-Bionicle fans, whether or not Lego will change the result if Bionicle does win, or any sort of

If you want a chance at a new Bionicle set, vote for it. If you don’t, don’t.

We already tried that. This is our second shot at some sort of gratification.

Oh, I wasn’t offended at all. I get that I might be coming across harsh, kinda just want to get my opinion out of the way in definitive language so I don’t have to spend all day tomorrow arguing over definitions flashbacks to canon contest discussion

the answer is Bionicle

we must band together in virtuous conquest if we expect to win the day, and if we get through the first round I very much believe we can

the AFOLs vote for their preferred options, all arguing over the better one. The Bionicle fans are united with some dissenters buckling to other options, but their vote is one of the top three.

then, the AFOLs who voted differently join with the other two options and flatten the Bionicle fans… wait hang on
