How would the tongue have known that the teeth was greeting him and respond? (Unless they can communicate telepathically, in which case the tongue doesn’t need to state that he has no ears).

Well, a tongue likely wouldn’t have the cognitive ability to understand gender. Then again, this tongue can apparently think, so I don’t know.
