Magna Guard Rangers: Lido & Powaga

The Magna guard rangers: Lido & Powaga

Part of my Magna Guard line of figures, this third set features: Lido, a wary and reluctant Toa of air.

And Powaga, a stoic yet cheerful toa of Gravity.

Lido I really did a lot of experimenting with, from the shoulder design, to the body. He’s a figure that I I really like for the simple reason that I tried so much within his compact design. And I did it mostly in green and lime, which anyone who’s built Bionicles knows, is not always an easy task.

I also took a number of design ques from my Orde MOC. As I imagine Lido is the almost polar opposite to Orde. Where Orde is stern, noble and ready to pull his team through no matter the struggle. Where as Lido is deep down a coward, questioning everything and most likely to abandon everything at a moments notice.

For Powaga I wanted to make a gravity toa with a very smooth look, having all the ridges and lines come together in what could be a almost seamless look, such as with the feet into the shins into the thighs.

I also wanted to give him a unique weapon compared to most other Gravity Toa, so I decided on a grappling hook so he could throw it around his target then increase the gravity and trap them!

And again, here they are with Orde.

Thanks for taking a look at my MOCs!

This whole lineup so far really feels like Bionicle; these are so fun to analyze and admire.

Lido’s got some extremely impressive thigh muscles there, going from bone thin to suddenly chunky. It’s most egregious from the front, which isn’t shared by Pogawa as his piece selection tapers enough to hide the transition.

Their tools are the best out of the group so far, fitting nicely into the world of Bionicle while also managing to stay unique. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
