Mareena, Fifth Ascendant of Krolgate

Hello everybody, I’m back. I still don’t have access to my pieces, so it’ll still be stuff from my backlog. But, I’m hoping to finally wrap up all the series that I made and finish posting my backlog. Anywho, this is the penultimate installment of this series, hope y’all enjoy! Oh yeah, here is the previous installment: Kyrunas, Fourth Ascendant of Krolgate

Deep in the icy darkness at the bottom of the deepest trench in the lair of the Megalodon, the princess of the Megalodon, as she was known to all of the lair’s denizens, laid on her coral bed, excitement building. The news of Krolgate’s first ascendant had just arrived to her, and she couldn’t be more elated. She had been told her whole life that ascension was impossible, just a fantasy that the Beasts had told to keep their champions motivated. But now she knew that was a lie. Her dream to ascend sparkled back into existence, and she began to plan. But the Megalodon itself would not allow its princess to leave, and the princess, Mareena, would be trapped in a coral cage for the next year, where she plotted her escape. As soon as Mareena heard about the next three ascendants, she knew the time was right, and she began her daring plan to escape from her native lair. She took the blades she had been given by her betrothed and used them to slowly saw away at the bars of her cage. She also began putting the finishing touches on Keelra, a vehicle she had been creating long before the first ascendant ascended. Then, when the bars were week enough, and the guards changed shifts, she pushed Keelra into full gear, blasting through the weakened bars. Keelra had enough thrust to out speed anything in the water, even her creator. However, Mareena had never piloted it at those speeds, and ended up crash landing it…

on the beeches of the lair of the Crab, where she soon realized she had made a critical error. Having never been far off the bottom of the Megolodon’s ocean, she did not realize that the other lairs were not covered in water. In fact, she could not even comprehend what air was, and although she could breath the air, she had never done so before, and so for a time it felt like suffocating, as her systems acclimatized to their new environment. Not only that, but the sun was bright, and it dried and scorched her skin, a sensation that she had never felt before and was the most horrible thing she could imagine. Finally, after several agonizing minutes of writhing, suffocating, and burning, she managed to drag herself into a shaded cave with a pool of water. She would spend months in this cave, trying to get used to these alien conditions and learning how to live outside of the water. She also used it to hide from the other champions that came looking for her. The only obstacle she could not overcome, was the lack of legs, so, painfully and slowly, she uncovered Keelra, which had been buried by sandstorms, and dragged it into her cave and began to repair it. She also modified to to be able to float so she could travel across land. When she completed the new and improved Keelra, she began traveling to thence lair, traveling at night and resting during the day she traveled fast and faced little resistance, until finally racing headfirst into…

The lair of the Snake. Immediately upon entry into the dense forest, Keelra was ensnared by vines, and Mareena was flung from the vehicle into a different trap. Once again, her naïveté has led her into unprecedented danger, and she had to adapt quickly to avoid death. As she crawled her way back to Keelra, she was bitten by a highly venomous serpent that caused excruciating pain, which she would endure for much of her travels through the lair. But, she had learned her lesson, and the remainder of her time in the lair, while painful and slow, was not nearly as difficult , and finally, she saw the forest open up into…

The rolling hills of the lair of the Ogre. Learning her lesson from the last two lairs, she approached the plains and hill caution. However, after several encounters with giants, she realized that speed was once again her ally, and she sped through the rest of this lair, unbothered by the waking giants eating her dust. Then suddenly, the soft, round hills became steep and sharp, a change that made Mareena slow down once again. Though she wasn’t fully aware of it, she had just entered…

… the lair of the Drake. The twisting and turning cliffs reminded Mareena of home, with its Crevasses and trenches, which made this lair a little easier for her, though it also gave her flashbacks of her cage. Although the perils of this maze were not the same as the ones she was used to, many of the navigation skills transferred between the two, and she found little resistance from this lair. Then finally, she reached the end of the maze, and looked out over…

The floating islands of the final lair, the lair of the Phoenix. There, at the edge of the cliff, also looking out over the floating islands to the beacon of light in the center, was a champion of the Phoenix, his hands on his hips. Mareena sidled up next to him on Keelra, and she heard him sigh. Then, before she could say anything, he turned to her and said “wanna race?” Mareena smirked at that.

“What’s your name?” She asked him, revving Keelra’s engine.

“June, what about you?” He asked in return.

“Mareena, and I hope you’re prepared to loose” she said, beginning to aim her ride at the beacon. June smiled gleefully.

“This is gonna be so much fun” he said under his breath. “Ready? 3… 2… 1… Go!” And with that, they were off, Keelra’s engine screaming like a banshee, and June like a maniac. June, who could fly, went straight towards the beacon, but Keelra needed the islands to propel off of, so Mareena had to strategically plan the best route. However, even going as fast as she could, the need to bounce off islands caused Mareena to fall behind, even if only slightly. As Mareena fell further and further behind, she feared she was going to loose, until she had an idea. On the next jump, instead of aiming for another floating island, Mareena aimed for June, and using almost the last of her fuel, leaving only enough for one final jump, she launched Keelra at June, landing right on top of them and using them to propel the last several hundred feet to the island with the beacon. June was not expecting this and the impact caused him to careen of course, and Mareena without looking back sputtered and pitted through the gate, becoming the fifth ascendant of Krolgate

Here’s Keelra on its own:

Hope y’all enjoyed the second to last installment of the Krolgate story. I think I might do a few other things with Krolgate, like possibly make a map or something, idk. Anyway, have a great day, and thanks for reading!!

This is the first time I’m seeing a mermaid-like figure and it’s really well done! It’s unique and the color scheme is lovely. I like the use of the Hero Factory torso armor as a tail fin, the shape looks good - same for the Iron Man chestplate, the print fits right in.
Keelra is very nice too, I like the amount of flames and the subtle blue accents.

Unfortunately I can’t show how to make them as I don’t have access to the Mocs right now.

There aren’t many well-done mermaid tails, nice job.

(Haha, get it? nICE? Cause she’s so cool?)
