Kyrunas, Fourth Ascendant of Krolgate

Oh boy, it has been a while, nearly four years in fact. I think I mentioned at the beginning that I was planning on doing six of these, and I have all six built and photographed, finally. Now I’m gonna begin to finish this series like I did with the Toa Ultima. Anyway, here is the previous installment: Silence, third ascendant of Krolgate, and now let’s begin.

Kyrunas, the cowardly ogre. That was what he was known as for as long as he could remember. In truth, he wasn’t a coward at all, it was just what champions of the ogre called people whose physical strength was less than their own. Admittedly though, the coward accusations were backed up by the fact that Kyrunas was smarter than most ogre champions and realized his physical weakness. With all this in mind, it was no wonder that he was cast down into the cold depths of the lair of the Megalodon, becoming a reject. This was when his lack of strength became the most apparent that it had ever been, and it wasn’t long before he found himself sinking to the bottom of the sea, unable to swim to the surface. As his vision faded to black, he heard a voice calling out to him, but it was too late…

Finally, he awoke on the hot sand of the lair of the crab, coughing up all the water that had filled his lungs. Next to him was a small winged creature, a champion of the drake. “Finally, you’re awake!” they cheered.
“Why did you save me, are we not rivals?” Kyrunas replied, coughing up the last of the water from his lungs.
“We rejects gotta stick together, right?” The little champion replied. This one sentence sparked an idea in Kyrunas’ head, and would change the course of his life, and the history of Krolgate, forever. “I’m Cyloan” the small champion said, finally introducing themself.
After that moment, Kyrunas and Cyloan began to fish other rejects out of the Megalodon’s ocean, and together they formed a team of five, calling themselves the Champions of the Rejected. The lair of the crab was no match for this mighty group with Kyrunas leading them. Kyrunas had finally found something he was good at, something to be proud of, and his newfound leadership skills would be put to the test in…

… the lair of the Snake. Kyrunas found that meticulous patient planning allowed them to get far into the treacherous jungle, and his ingenuity allowed him to come up with an idea for a tool that could help them, however he was no good at actually making the thing. Luckily, Cyloan was an excellent inventor and was able to make the tool Kyrunas had in mind, a blade that could be thrown, and then return to the thrower (aka, a boomerang). With this new tool and Kyrunas’ talent for planning, they made it through the jungle and into…

… Kyrunas’ homeland, the lair of the ogre. With the vast open plains and rolling hills, Kyrunas had another idea for an invention to help them get past the giants withought issue. By attaching wheels to their feet, they could easily outspend the slow giants if they came across them. Using this new invention the Cyloan once again brought to life, and the strength of some of their teammates, they made it through to the next lair…

… the lair of the Drake. For all of the skills he had learned as a leader, mazes were something that Kyrunas still could not seem to get the hang of. He frequently got the group lost and into dangerous situations that nearly wiped them out. It wasn’t until after they lost a team member to a chasm that inspiration struck again, and, with the help of Cyloan and the other two, Kyrunas made another invention, this one with multiple uses. Essentially, they made a sonic gun that could be used as a weapon, or as a sonar device. Using this new invention, traveling through the maze became a sinch, and finally they made it to

… The final lair, the lair of the Pheonix. Immediately it was apparent to Kyrunas the item the would need to make it to the beacon. The answer was of course, gliders. However, creating working gliders turned out to be more difficult than anticipated, and their first test flight resulted in the death of another group member. After mourning the death of their friend, they finished construction of the gliders, and this time they worked flawlessly, slowing them to adjust their trajectory mid jump as necessary, and being able to make it to further islands than many others. Cyloan acted as a scout for Kyrunas and the other remaining member, seeing as she could fly. However, after one of these missions she did not return, and Kyrunas would soon find out why as he watched his last crew member fall out of the sky and into the endless pit below. The last group member’s glider had been shot up by none other than Silence, who would soon be known as the third ascendant of Krolgate. By the time Kyrunas arrived at the spot where Silence had shot his friend down, Silence had already ascended. On that island, he found the crippled form of his first true friend, Cyloan. He held her in his arms as she used her dying breath to tell him to finish the job and ascend. After a short funeral for his fallen comrades, Kyrunas hade the final leap of faith to the beacon, swearing vengeance on Silence, and ascending into the world above, becoming the fourth ascendant of Krolgate.

Enhancements: feet wheels, glider wings

Well this was fun. I went back and read all three of the others to get some inspiration and kinda remember how the world of Krolgate works and wow, I’m quite happy to see how much my writing has improved. Although that does mean that this is longer than most of the others, but I’m okay with that. Hope y’all enjoyed, and I hope to have more posts out this weekend, have a good day!
