Nuju Hordika Revamp!

I haven’t MOCed in a few weeks, and decided to revamp a set I bought a few months ago.

I also have never revamped a Bionicle set before, so that’s another thing about this that’s interesting for me.

Anyways, here’s the MOC! I decided to go for a much more animalistic and beast-like appearance, something I wish was more prevalent in the actual Hordika sets.

He’s got a decent amount of articulation, even one joint in the functional Rhotuka launcher, so it can be adjusted slightly.

There is a very simple gear function in the right arm, if you move aside a small thorn piece that’s used to cover it a bit, you can spin the large gear to turn the elbow. It’s very simple, but I figured it’s better than no replication of the old Hordika function.

Constructive criticism is welcome as always!

Really Cool!

Splendid! I love the the geared arm is less obtrusive and awkward than the official set. Giving him digitigrade legs was another smart move as it really gets that bestial look across well.

It’s cool but, I can’t tell if it has a face.

@Toa_Aveex thanks!

@Stoax Thanks!

“Werewolf” is mostly what I was thinking when I was designing this guy.

@BlackboltJohnson

Here’s a picture of the original set, it’s a bit easier to make out here:

Overall a fantastic remake of Nuju Hordika. Wouldn’t mind seeing your take on some of the other hordika.

He’s the only one I’ve got, unfortunately.

If I can get the parts, I may make the others with the same basic frame and some minor armor changes.

i really like him although in the film the hordika were a lot shorter than this

Yeah, I wasn’t going for a movie accurate appearance :stuck_out_tongue:

I wanted to get a little more creative with the design, as I always felt the Hordika didn’t look too “beast-like” in the story, despite being described like that.

then it works perfectly, i actually made some small adjustments to my nokama hordika to make the arms more movie like, not sure how good it is. ill post it soon

UPDATE:

The arm was having some friction and stability problems, and I figured a way to fix it while also making the function easier to access:

This is the stuff of awesome.

It looks great.

I have no complaints.

The shaping on this guy is amazing. However, the color distribution looks a bit odd, but I imagine that would be an easy fix.

nice work

Very cool, I quite like it.

I’m pretty sure that by just using the old less sofisticated pieces this model wouldn’t be possible at all.

I used to have these very same thoughts.

But then I realized CCBS actually has a lot of good. You just gotta blend it well, like this MOC did.

It actually would have been impossible. It you look closely, the entire spine that holds the waist together is made of CCBS and requires it.

-10 respect points

at least you could’ve put a ‘imo’ or something, as the way you state it makes it seem like fact, and I know some people who prefer CCBS far more than the G1 system. And even then, there’s very few obvious CCBS pieces.

Most present are for structure. I needed to limit the amount of shells I used to avoid texture incoherence.
