Okotan Adventures: The Dark (Signups)

HOORAYYY! So,how do I start?

Your character, like the rest of the starting group, would have received a letter like this, prompting him to meet at the Mask Makers’ forge. At the moment the rest of the party is in a training match against Makuta, but your character doesn’t know that yet.

No go. Your character hasn’t even arrived yet, and if he had, he would not have enough time to casually glance about the interior.

oh.When does he arrive?

Anytime you want, but he needs to actually arrive.

Maybe try introducing them in a way like this. Show Henan actually arriving at the forge.

Henan’s neck joints creaked as he gazed at the massive statues adorning the entrance to the forge.Amazing craftsmanship. Henan thought to himself.Probably took a year to make.As he began to climb the enormous flight of stairs,He solemnly noted to ask about the techniques of the carving, and the type of stone used.As he neared the door,it seem to be sealed shut.He again looked at the carving, and then, trying not to break the craftsmanship, knocked on the door multiple times.

That looks great to me, but you should probably post that in the RP topic, not the sign ups

whoops thought this was.

Now that’s a good start. Just so you know, most people when making posts put a space after each period used so the sentence structure flows easier.

Oop, just realized that Ilya completely ignored his bomb being Kylo Ren force-held by Makuta. Huge oversight, I’ll fix it ASAP

So what do you mean by blunt end? the opposite side of the pole?

Yeah, the opposite end of the pole. While it’s not sharp, it still should have enough power behind it to keep him at bay, and knock the wind out of him if executed properly. She’s not looking to kill Makuta here (though maybe she should be, would certainly save a lotta trouble down the road)

Or…

Well if Makuta wasn’t mad before.

yeah, that too…

So does this:

mean I can succeed in the next post, or should I still leave it up to the GM?

You can succeed. But the window there is small.

However, Makuta’s having such a fun time you might not have to worry about that very soon.

So uh. In games and RPGs and stuff, I am an intensely tactical person. I never really addressed anything like that for Ilya one way or another, but I feel like given his background, he’d be pragmatic, yes, but not exactly great under pressure.

The issue is that I feel like my inner tactician is bleeding out kinda hard onto my character… and that’s bad roleplaying - roleplaying myself, as opposed to the character; the question is “what would [character] do in this situation?”, not “what would Winger do in this situation?”. Is this internalized to me or is it something I should actively try to fix?

See, I have the same problem but with intelligent characters. I’m always afraid I as the player won’t actually be smart enough to act and think how my character would in situations. There’s a reason I alway opt for characters that are better in the slashing department rather than the thinking one.

That’s not quite the issue, although maybe it could be construed to be the opposite the character acting too intelligent.

But I feel like it’s less an issue of intelligence - I created the character with the general idea that he was at least marginally intelligent - and more confidence. Tacticians are cool and confident under pressure, and I feel like Ilya shouldn’t be.

Honestly, with further though, I can probably fix the problem with better and more time-devoted RPing. I can frame the actions with less confidence, or something.
