So, couple questions. How much do Okotan’s know about the hunters? Do we speak the same language? Has communication between the two races really been tried yet, and if so, how’d it go? (I’m guessing not very well)

Contraction versus Possessive: When an apostrophe is used in the middle of a word, it is a contraction - a shortening of two words for convenience, most typically with the word Is following another word. There Is, He Is, She Is, You Are, I Am, I will, You Will for example.

Now the contraction of It’s means It Is - back to this in a second.

Possessives are to label something as being the property of the aforementioned noun. His, Her, Mine, Yours, Theirs, Ours, and Its. Any time It’s occurs in this story, from what I can tell, should be the possessive form and not the contraction.

And on a side note, names and titles have a weird habit of breaking the barrier and having a contraction that is also a possessive. For instance, this is Ghid’s post. English is dumb.

So a lot of the lore of OA was developed by Flux, and it was extremely spotty and overly complex, but I’ll try to recall things as best I can:

At this point in time, no, there has been no opportunity for either party to learn the other’s language. Communication hasn’t been attempted, as both sides hate each other for existing. Of course, each individual character is entitled to unique opinions.

As I said above on the post you liked, son , no Okotan-to-Hunter communication has been officially tested as of yet. If there’s a Hunter who can speak the Okotan language, he’s most certainly not going to be a kid.
