Okoto//Turning Dark

I think Okoto sounds “good”, it’s kinda catchy actually

PLS LEGO, DON’T DUMB DOWN THE STORY

Am i the only that feels like the story will be bad? :frowning:
I hope not!

Alright, I am not really opposed to it being a reboot anymore.

I was afraid it would just be REDONE, but Okoto sounds like a place I’d like to explore.

Who knows, it could still be a
soft–reboot.

Also, who knows, this could be a fake.

Also, to note, #Imablindfanboy B)

Okoto=Arthaka???

With LEGO acknowledging the demands of the fanbase, I’m sure we’re in for a fairly decent story. Sure, it might not be the same old “Toa must save Mata-Nui”, but honestly, if it was going to be that story again and it didn’t meet expectations, you might as well just go read the old story as it was.

And that’s why I’m all in for a reboot. I want to be caught off guard. I want this story to be unpredictable. We all know that Optimus Prime defeats Megatron every single time they reboot Transformers. It’s always the same story. I want a new threat in Bionicle- something that would actually make me wonder what happens next. If the threat isn’t Makuta, then what is? What is the significance of the island called Okoto?

You also have to keep in mind that just because LEGO wants to create a story that kids can better understand, that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be totally dumbed down. LEGO is still capable of telling interesting stories without confusing the hell out of everybody. The problem with BIONICLE’s old story that got too complicated was that over the ten years of story-telling there were a lot of loose ends. The online serials that hardly any kid kept up with, the non-canon video games, shortage of visual media (television series, movies), and just a bunch of story details that got overly convoluted and irrelevant (See Takanuva’s random filler adventures through time and space). So long as LEGO keeps a firm grasp of what story they want to tell with BIONICLE, I don’t think there’s anything to worry about, especially if they really do keep the demands of old fans in mind.

This sounds interesting. If the characters are the same I’m guessing it’s a soft reboot.

Nice post, Ven. I like it!

I’m cautiously skeptic of this development, but I’ll have very few issues if it does end up being legitimate. Okoto sounds like a rather intriguing name.

Meanings of Okoto:
Yoruba: Mussels
Bulgarian: Eye
Serbian: Eye
Igbo: It was through
O Koto means your thing in Japanese
Oxoto means hunting in Russian

So these are all the definitions that came up through Google Translate.
I was unable to find the meaning of “perfect balance”

The Island of Mussels must be a thing.

Although most likely it will have its own invented meaning.

I agree, but then again, Naho Bay meant Eye bay.

But we know that island was an face now.
PLOT TWIST: Okoto was that one pimple that fell off of Mata Nui’s face when he rose again, and somehow Artakha arrived on it and his mask got knocked off and taken by Skull Spiders, and the Toa had to come and retrieve it.

Hmm, who told ya that Ver?

But I really hope that the eye translation isn’t what they’re getting at. I don’t want the same surprise AGAIN

Greg said the theme was aimed at 8+ on the LEGO message boards though. Hmmmm.

Are we allowed to share this info with anyone???
