Oh. Huh, I thought it was based on calendar dates but that actually makes more sense. (I actually made that myself, not from bulbapedia or serebii)
Sorry about that, I’ve corrected it.
Also, I think my team for the main game is going to be:
-Litten’s final evo
-Crabrawler’s evo
-Pikipek’s final evo
-Wishiwashi or Lurantis
-Alolan Sandslash or Ninetails
-Wimpod’s evo
Note that this could change over time. Heck, it’ll probably change as I’m playing through the game!
I think it was a good option to get rid of them they are so overpowered in the game competitive play and the TCG competitive play. They look amazing and the concept is cool but anymore generations of Mega evolutions would be exhausting
I’m one of those lame people who doesn’t have a 3DS, so I’d like to ask you guys a few questions as a novice Pokemon fan.
- Is Team Skull intimidating but fun? (Like Team Rocket from G1 and G2?)
- Is the rival an interesting character? More importantly, is he a meanie or does he become one?
- Any of the new features fantastic?
Team Skull seems pretty fun, I guess. They’re much more different from most of the previous teams, but it’s only a demo. Can’t say much about them right now.
The rival seems more like a friendly person than anything else. Ugh.
YES. YES THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL TO THE EYES.
I don’t really get this. Now excuse me for not knowing much (because I’ve only played Gens 1 and 2), but it seems to me that the rivals get nicer and nicer each generation from what I’ve researched. Not something I really like to be honest.
Like, Silver and Blue are enjoyable because you kinda want to defeat them. If they’re a nice guy I won’t wanna fight them. Personally, I think it would be good to have a rival that starts off nice and then becomes a bad guy as the game goes along, ya know?
If memerory serves me right, the Gen IV rival is quite the ***hat.
I don’t think they have to be mean, or a bad guy, but setting up proper competion and rivalry might just be too difficult without them being like that…
I don’t have a problem with them being friendlier, but as of late, the rivals are pretty stale regardless of their trope. Blue is the basic stereotype of a “rival,” and Silver has a mission and depth to such, both of which really work for their cases. Wally has progression, and fits as a friend but one who intends to overcome you. Barry is hectic and competitive, but still a good friend with a goal, and that’s about it (although I still like him).
Cheren and Bianca seem to just be there for support and not much challenge. Hugh had a story, but wasn’t really a rival in the grand scheme. Then the three what-were-their-names Tierno, Trevor and Shauna were even more forgettable.
I guess what I’m trying to say is: They haven’t mixed it up all that much in recent times. It seems they serve more as a companion quest and less of an integral part of the plot.
If Hau isn’t going to be a competitive rival, that’s fine, as long as there is something else to fill the slot, otherwise. If the main plot doesn’t call for an ongoing rivalry, so be it. Considering the direction they’re going with the trials, an opposer may not be necessary. Changing things up seems to be something of note this time around, so fingers crossed…
Also, listening to the battle themes for days…I’ll be sick of it by the time the games come out…
I’m pretty sure you mean Silver from HGSS. Barry was more of an overly energetic, competitive numbskull than a less-than-kind rival.
Plus there is also Serena/Calum in X and Y.
You are probably right. It has been many years since I’ve played Diamond or Pearl…
They’re like an Ace Attorney Team Rocket from what I’ve seen. Intimidating, but also over-the-top.
Not really, but it seems like Gladion (I think that’s his name?) will make up for that. Kind of like N in B&W and Giovanni’s son in GSC. Both of them weren’t presented as your official rivals, but pretty much were.
You mean Silver?
I thought Silver was your official rival in GSC? I mean he’s not presented as “oh hey this guy is your rival!” but it’s obvious it’s him. You even get to name him. He’s certainly antagonistic as well.
Nah, he was just some random dude that steals a Pokemon. He fills the role (like N does), but he isn’t acknowledged as your rival at any point. HGSS take it a step further and actually give you a rival (Lyra/Ethan).
…But you never fight Lyra or Ethan. They’re the Dawns of HGSS.
Here’s a great rule of thumb for most rivals. If they have one of that regions starters and had it through the entire game, then that’s your rival.
I personally put the gender counterpart in a different category, but that’s still a pretty accurate generalization.
I still insist that Gladion is most likely your actual rival. He has a Pokemon that can change its type based on hold items, meaning it could change its type to the one your starter is weak against. In Black and White you’re competing against N and his ideologies. He even becomes Champion. In ORAS Wally is determined to surpass you. It only makes sense that Gladion will be like N and Wally. In both games the person (people) you start out with in your town are just your friends.
Kommo-o boi
Some mega are either balanced (Gallade, Sceptile) or are strait up trash (Audino, Banette) even though the design is cool.
There are some mega I wanted but I rather have an new evolution from pass gen than a wasted slot Sadly they haven’t did that in the pass 2 Generation beside Eevee…
Also to keep in mind that Parental Bond got nerfed yet I still find Kang to be broken.
you take that back
