I’m not sure Pokemon would work in live-action.
I think the potential of this movie all depends on who’s producing it, and whether or not the studio gets heavily involved. If it’s that one guy who made other video game movies, like Super Mario Bros., I’m going to repeatedly smash my head against the wall until there’s nothing left of my skull.
It could work, but the designs of the Pokémon themselves would have to be changed. It would be awkward seeing a flat, shiny Pikachu fighting a flat, shiny Machamp.

There are things that work better animated than live-action. Some concepts or designs can’t wistand the pressure for realism that comes with live-action. Pokemon I feel, is one of them.

The amount of NOPE I have for this “movie” is so huge that TTV would delete the post for being considered spam. Here we ago again with Hollywood going to fail to understand what made a series so popular. And the idea that Sony might end up owning the rights is utterly terrifying. Teridax controlling the Mata Nui robot and sending thousands of rakshi after me? Honey, put that back on the shelf. This is what is truly terrifiying.
I hate Hollywood so much. The only thing saving them from 100% of my hate is the good movies that come out 50% of the time.

Wow, I can’t even think of that… I can’t tell if it would be super cool, because of they what they did with Godzilla’s design, or really bad looking because Pokemon…
The short answer to that is a resounding NO!
Also, just because they are auctioning the rights, it doesn’t mean they will make a movie. I mean, they might pull a Sony and make one because they would lose the rights to a massively popular franchise if they didn’t, but I don’t see this being green-lit any time soon.

No. Anime never works as live action. Look at attack on titan or the last airbender.
And just imagine the uncanny valley of some of the more humanoid pokemon.
