Salvation: Part II

Zepar shrugs, “Possess one of us? Move things around like a poltergeist?” He suggests, “It’s best we play it safe.”

“Get up, all of you,” the ghost of Megatronus says disdainfully, looking down at the bots prostrating before him. “I am unworthy of such displays.”

“Uh… hey there…” Topside says dumbly. Autobot regulations didn’t exactly cover formalities with the ghosts of demigods.

The Angelicons get back up.

“A ghost with humility. Unexpected, but respectable.”
Pipebomb said as the other two nervously got back up.

“Call it what you will,” Megatronus says. "I watched a divided people tear itself apart once, and I will not stand by and let history repeat itself.

“Unity is the key,” he pointedly reiterates. “A lone individual’s conviction and strength is finite, but the bonds of fellowship can… open new doors, so to speak.”

With that, the ghost of Megatronus fades away, his form dispelling into a dark mist that retreated into the shadows.

Spectrum glanced around, wondering where her new friend had gone.

Split rubbed his chin.
“Unity?” He glanced at the capsule of the combination spark, and picked it up. “Do you think this is it?”

The three remained silent, reflecting on Megatronus’ words. Until Pipebomb eventually spoke up.

“Well that’s just maddeningly unhelpful.”

“I mean, if we were pushing a rock or something it would make sense.”
Starchaser replied.
“But we’re opening a door. How do we work together to open a door? Aside from debating over which key to use. But that’s what we’ve been doing!”

“Maybe we’re looking for something that represents unity,” Topside suggests. “Like a… I don’t know, maybe a ship, or some cross-species thing or-”

“-or that,” Topside says. “Though that’s a pretty literal interpretation of the strength of many; the ancients lose some points in my book there. Not very subtle, if that’s the case.”

Starchaser slapped herself in the face for missing such an obvious answer. Broadwing looked at her curiously, ans carefully repeated the motion.

“How did I not think of that?”
The flying ace said.
“Broadwing and I got some installed just the other day!”

Split nods. “True. Well, what else could it be?”
He looks around for anything that could be related to unity.
“Maybe we all have to agree on something?”

“I trust you,” Topside says. “Whatever you decide, I’m in for.”

@meepinater

“So what are we waiting for? Lets get this open!”
Starchaser said excitedly.

The Angelicons nod, “A Combination Spark feels appropriate.” Garand said.

Split glances at the others.
“Alright then.”
He picked up the capsule and walked over to the door.
“Everybody sure about this?”

“Go for it dude. Not like we have any better options.”
Starchaser said confidently.

The Angelicons and Epsilon nod affirmatively.

Topside waits silently, glancing pointedly at Split.

@meepinater

Split nodded and put the capsule into the slot on the door.

The data capsule clicks into place within the gate, and vanishes in a flash of white. The double doors swing open, revealing an arena beyond with a gravel floor, with high walls colored green and bronze. An irregularly-shaped boulder hovered above the center of the arena, with the symbol of Micronus Prime carved deep into its face.

The symbol lights up as the doors open, glowing green and throwing out bolts of lightning that strike the loose rocks beneath it, illuminating a large headless robot with broad shoulders, blocky limbs, and three bars of red light forming a triangle in the center of its chest. The sentinel raises its arms and clenches its fist, standing defiantly between our heroes and the way forward.

“Getting right to the chase this time, I see,” Topside remarks as he deploys his rifle. “At least this seems nice and straightforward.”

Spectrum skips up to the sentinel, waving happily.
“H-H-hello!”

Split raises his shotgun, ready for a fight. “Hopefully.”
