Im happy that this movie was succesful, as with Episode 7, this will pave the way for more Star Wars movies. For now before the saturation of SW movies, this is a good time to be a fan.
(I hope we dont have any title cards in the future, thats a cheap way for exposition, not to mention I miss the Lucas scene transitions.)
would be interesting if they made a Jango Fett movie, probably based on the game:
but… i can see success with a Boba Fett movie too.
and im not saying that the Boba Fett movie should take place after Return of the Jedi mind you, but doing what Rouge One did, and taking place before that fatefull even happend.
I feel like the title cards were necessary given how much RO jumps around in it’s first act. Future movies probably won’t need them if they’re a bit more linear.
I think the title cards, lack of opening crawl, and lack of window’s movie maker transitions was a way for the film to become a bit more different from the saga movies.
Definitely. However, when talking about the “Movie Maker-style” transitions we need to keep in mind that they weren’t cliche when Lucas originally used them. In fact, Lucas’s editor actually made really smart use of those transitions:
As far as I know, there was no such thing as a digital home video editor like WMM back then so audiences wouldn’t have been sick of seeing those default transitions on YouTube videos like they are now.
So I finally got to see Rogue One today, and oh my gosh it was amazing! All spin-offs should be this good! Yeah, it’s not perfect, but that’s the case with every movie and it’s set the bar pretty high for the rest of the Anthology films.
Also, I was pleasantly surprised with how emotional and story-driven it was. The trailers made it out to be an action/heist film hybrid, but there were some pretty deep moments throughout.
I am not ashamed to admit I was close to tears at some parts
Saw Rogue One today, and I have to say that it was pretty good, but well, after episode VII it’s not like the story could get any worse. A few strange things were in it, but in general it worked.
I’m still wondering why they have to make up new planets every time, though - after all it’s not like they don’t have at least 200 to choose from already.
I also quiet enjoyed that it didn’t glorify war like movies usually do.
Anything else… Oh, yeah:
TREN KROM!
No seriously, I forgot the name of that thing, but it was red, had a lot of tentacles and could read thoughts - and its victim usually goes mad. If that isn’t almost exactly Tren Krom I don’t know what else.
I mean, they probably would have just stuck him in that same cell without the whole Bor Gullet scene…
Honestly, that scene is really only useful narrative-wise for establishing how crazy and paranoid Saw Gerrera is at this point (which isn’t a bad thing IMO).
