Takua and Nixie headcanon

So, a little while ago, I noticed that Nixie and Takua wore light blue Pakari’s as Matoran. Proof:

Now, I have a little headcanon for this. Before I begin with that, there’s a bit of canon regarding Takua to address.

Sometime during his years on Metru Nui, his original mask was damaged and replaced with an ill-fitting blue Pakari.

This bit of canon is confirmed by Greg Farshtey himself. As far as most are aware, Greg never stated what mask Takua wore before the Pakari. So, I picked the Ruru at random:

Takua canonically had lackluster control over his ability to change his armor color as an Av-Matoran, making his Ta-Matoran disguise a poor one, hence why I put blue on the model. Since he didn’t remember he was an Av-Matoran at the time, he didn’t remember he could change his colors, making any attempt to improve his disguise a moot point.

Now, what few people ask is where he got the ill-fitting Pakari in the first place and why he didn’t try getting a mask that fit him better. This headcanon I wrote is my attempt to answer both questions. How he broke his old mask? Well, as a toolmaker in Ta-Metru, Takua also ran a small business in his home called Takua’s Trade Goods, where he offered souvenirs from other Metru that he had picked up on his travels, which he often did at moments when he was assigned to do work. This habit often attracted a lot of attention from the Vahki and there was a running joke in Ta-Metru that an entire squad was assigned just to keep watch on Takua. You can fill in the blanks there. Anyway, on with the headcanon:

Back on Metru Nui, Nokama and Nixie were heading home when they found Takua barely alive with his powerless Noble Ruru knocked off his face and broken.

Nixie saved him by giving him a spare Pakari she had. When Takua came to, Nixie was the first one he saw. From there, the two formed a close friendship and would often stargaze together. Takua continued to wear the Pakari she gave him as a symbol of their friendship. Even after having his memories wiped by the Matoran sphere, Takua continued to wear it because subconsciously, he still had sentimental value in it. When he became a Toa, I feel it would make sense that he removed his Pakari before donning the Avohkii. He held onto it for a bit, but, dropped it when entering Teridax’s lair. As the Matoran, Turaga, and Toa descended, Nixie found the Pakari and picked it up, hoping to return it to him one day. After the move back to Metru Nui, Nokama (who hadn’t lost her memory) told Nixie about her past with Takua. For extra heartwarming points, Nixie also subconsciously retained memories of her bond with Takua.

And there you have it. A headcanon with a three-fold purpose: answering questions about Takua’s Pakari few considered asking, fleshing out Nixie a bit, and a bit of shipping. I would’ve posted this in the BIONICLE Headcanons topic, but, that would violate the first and third rules of the topic. So, I’m posting it as its own topic.

If you have thoughts or comments on this idea, you know where to leave them.

That’s very sweet. I’d ship Taxie for sure!

In my continuation series, Avokan, love is canon for Matoran since they lived on Spherus Magna long enough to have a concept of romance.
