And how many of the current crew have made such threats to Mariner, and each other? (Dolphus and Jade being exceptions). All of them.

Dolphus because all his threats were just thoughts

The most Dolphus has done is give Mako the evil eye, but uh

yeah fair

everyone on this ship is a psychopathic egotist

@N01InParticular gary come home, we need alexis to get poisoned so dolphus forms an incredibly unhealthy grudge against karl for the rest of his life

Made a quick edit, because I realized I Metagamed a bit.

Also made an edit, since part of Karl’s reply was somewhat vague (accidentally referring to the crew instead of Hethila).

new alternate timeline where each crew member’s worst fears become realized

Mako’s body is horribly mangled during the jellyfish attack beyond repair, and he is forced to live bound to his bed, unable to depart, nursed for years to come while the double-dealings and treachery of the leaders goes on unanswered. He would eventually relearn how to walk, but always remaining too weak to fight back against their actions.

Jade suffers the intolerable fate of not being a very good character

Rook Andreas would lose all hope in prison, eventually ending up being turned into a Suncursed and becoming one of the most capable Suncursed as well. Halfway across the Yohurian desert, Rook and the Suncursed under his wing would attack the party chosen by fire, killing everyone.

Dolphus would tarry a moment too long behind his father, saving himself from being mangled in the blast but being impaled by a piece of shrapnel from the door. Rescued by a more religious group, he is converted into a member of the honored dead. Taking the position of cartographer far sooner from the old man, Dolphus lived out the rest of his tenure as a semi-physical embodiment of magic before being abandoned in the desert after he was selected to travel with the party thanks to his sword prowess, and being unable to save them, was left alone.

Karl would be forced to admit he is short, which would make him very sad and probably cry about it :c

Nico would get caught the day he appeared at the Drunken Mule, having been caught for his numerous crimes against the people of the summer armada, and sentenced to life in prison for his actions. He would eventually get transferred to the northern fleet as part of a prisoner exchange, where he would be tasked with ship building for the fleet and eventually fight in naval combat with them, dying at the hands of a blasting powder cask being lit and flung at his ship.

Alexis would find out the ‘truth’ of her past, carefully selected by her adversaries to paint her as a committer of wartime atrocities as well as compliance with the Suncursed project. Overcome with grief at her apparent crimes, Alexis would turn herself in and be executed for high treason.

new alternate timeline wherein after finding out that the real king was the friends they made along the way, the party split into two groups: those vying for the crown (Rook, Nico, Mako) and those willing to abandon it (Alexis, Dolphus, Karl, Jade). With Mariner dead, the two factions fight it out, with only one person surviving the conflict and ascending to the throne.

Mako survives the conflict despite being the least prepared to handle it. Upon returning and fabricating the order of events, he is given the crown and title, and tasked with returning order to the land.
Mako’s rule is incredibly tight-fisted, with no mercy shown to any figures in positions of political leadership, regardless of circumstance. While his reign finally unites the summer armada and brings the isles under his hand, little changes for its citizens, and when infection claimed him just a decade later, the conflicts started anew.

Jade survives the conflict by her skills at evasion and waiting for the moment to strike. Upon returning and giving a pitiable version of events, she is given the crown and title, and tasked with returning order to the land.
Jade’s rule is fraught with political naivety, handling matters in very much the same manner that she would if she still lived on the streets. A war is eventually begun with the far north, which she commands and barely succeeds in. The stress of leadership is too great for her, however, and twenty years later her health begins to wane. She would eventually abstain the throne and live for quite some time in spite of her condition, being remembered fondly as the Beggar’s Queen for her hyper focus on improving the conditions of the poor.

Rook survives the conflict by cruel, vicious efficiency. Upon returning and fabricating the order of events, he is given the crown and title, and tasked with returning order to the land.
Rook’s reign is violent and cruel, with several rebellions needing to be quelled under his tenure on the throne. During this time, the north would attack on three separate occasions, but each time they were beaten back, and the prisoners of the conflict had their hands cut off and metal grafted to their bones. In time, each prisoner he captured was molded into a furious duplicate of himself, unquestionably loyal and just as cruel.
Eventually the north would switch tactics. After making treaties with the halinth and other neighboring species, the north sat back and let Rook’s own people do the fighting. Rook’s fighting forces held them back with grave efficiency, but eventually fell as the north unleashed the Suncursed on the nation, driving it to surrender. Refusing to give up, Rook fought til his last breath against a thousand halinth, which finally tore him into shreds after he had personally cracked over two hundred of them.

Dolphus survives the conflict by contributing to Nico’s death and avoiding Rook at all costs. Upon returning and delivering a factual order of events, he is given the crown and title, and tasked with returning order to the land.
Dolphus is plunged deep into grief due to the loss of Alexis, and his weary and cold nature makes him nigh unapproachable. With the secret of his wing found out, the moniker of Prince of Angels gets tossed around with little staying power. After only a year, Thalur officially steps in to assist with his rule, leaving him mostly disgusted at Dolphus’ apparent ineptitude at leadership.
A war is waged with the north, and despite advice in the contrary, Dolphus directly participates, leading to a tremendous strategic victory. His inhumane treatment and coldness towards his political opponents thoroughly shocks the Sunblessed, and Thalur eventually ascends to the throne after Dolphus withers away from his sorrow.

Karl survives by his combat sense and eliminating Dolphus at the start of the battle. Upon returning and telling a tale of complete treachery on the part of the crew, he is given the crown and title, and tasked with returning order to the land.
Karl’s stature is made up for in his leadership, being very human and approachable. He is always wary of spies and assassins, and keeps an armed guard around him at all times. Under his watch, the isles are transformed into a massive series of fortresses, preparing its citizens from an eventual war.
It comes, but the structures backfire as the north easily besieges them. He counters by blowing up a portion of the wall and evacuating everyone from the position, apparently worried of an invasion. While the north did not advance, his loyal Halinth troops did, slinking out at night and taking the boats by surprise. With a gap in the siege formed, Karl smashed through the blockade and swept the fleet from two sides, earning a tremendous victory but he himself being killed in the process.

Nico would survive by efficiency and never missing his shots when they came. Upon returning and fabricating events, he is given the crown and title, and tasked with returning order to the land.
Nico ends up being a very evenly-balanced king, with equally weighed generosity and judgement. The summer armada and the surrounding isles benefit financially from his advice, so much so that the isles become a major trade hub once again. Becoming tentative allies with the north by pressuring them into an arrangement, Nico’s reign lasts 57 years, and he dies equally popular with every class of citizen.

Alexis would survive by her excellence with magic and battle tactics. Upon returning and delivering a factual order of events, she is given the crown and title, and tasked with returning order to the land.
Grieved at the loss of her crew and the ones she was ordered to protect, Alexis would repeatedly try to abstain, but always find herself back under the weight of the crown. Being a healthy person, however, she eventually recovers and leads her nation to new, tremendous heights.
Under her leadership, the summer armada and the surrounding isles grow further and further, establishing treaties with the reluctant halinth and the other species living nearby, earning them valuable allies and support in future events. And when the north finally attacked, her forces fought hard and fought well, eventually winning the day and conquering the entirety of the north. With so much of the world under her rule, she would hold her head high in the crowds, but her apparent mental recovery and charismatic personality are all a cover. Deep in the bowels of her royal palace, a preserved Dolphus waits, in the hope that all of science and magic can resurrect him once more.
