Weird, I donā€™t remember hardsuits and spaceships being involved in this battle. I guess I need to reread some of my history books. :stuck_out_tongue:

Name: Nilas Turner

Age: 25

Origins/Faction: The Baroniesā€™ Grand Argon Fighting Forces

Position/Branch: ā€œCommunications Officerā€/ Signal Support Systems Specialist - Army Signal Corps

Weapons: A semi-automatic pistol and a dagger.

Equipment/hardsuit: Nilas utilizes a more medium-range hardsuit; lighter than vacuum requirements but heavier than typical infantry for greater utilization of the powered exo-skeleton. More of a combat mule suit for ease of moment while carrying heavier loads. A necessity as often attached to his suitā€™s back is a specialized communication device and various replacement parts.

This self-powered, backpack mounted communication device is a military-grade transceiver and wireless router. Wherever he goes, it ensures that nearby troops receive communication signals, should they be too far from a ground installation or their supplied receivers are too weak. The radio waves it receives and transmit are adjustable; given enough time and educated guessing, Nilas can tune into enemy chatter. And also send data to their receivers, often for excessive noise and jamming to disrupt communication. Though for more complex devices, it is capable of sending low-level viruses to computation systems.

The transceiver has a rugged tablet-like device attached to its right side by a retractable wired cord. If Nilas ever drops this tablet, it is pulled back to the transceiver and snaps to its side until retrieved again. The tablet has a large touchscreen, allowing Nilas to make adjustments to the transceiver. If needed, a physical control tray can slide out (locked in place to prevent it from popping out). It can also communicate with the back-transceiver wirelessly if needed, though this feature is disabled while it is physically connected. The tablet comes with a few other features for assisting in tracing radio signals, general note taking, and the like. On its own, the tabletā€™s battery can only last a couple of hours.

If the tablet is unavailable for use, the transceiver can be detached from the hardsuit (minor mechanized means for assisting in detachment) and adjusted manually. The transceiver has a protective cover over its manual controls and interface. It is capable of working with other frequency types, such as microwaves, but is less used. His helmetā€™s own minor radio receiver is primarily connected to this transceiver. The helmet also reduces outside noise to help save his hearing.

Though outside of these communication devices, he has a multi-tool foldable shovel, a screwdriver and socket wrench with swappable heads (their various attachments stored inside their handles), wire cutters/strippers, and other misc. tools for fixing/sabotaging comm devices. Usually has extra wiring and other common parts for fixing comm devices large and small. And some bowl-like mirror for redirecting or disrupting light-based comms.

Appearance: A fit Caucasian man in his mid-twenties with a face that makes most assume heā€™s a decade or two older. Clean shaven, somewhat sunken cheeks, thin lips, a hawk nose, buzzed eyebrows, and chestnut eyes. A little over 5ā€™8" tall, he keeps his hair down to a short buzz, which appears to be some bright, almost white, blonde color. Though his scalp is tattooed as a shade of lavender, his short hairs almost reflecting this coloring. Wears a standard uniform and combat suit befit of his status in the Baroniesā€™ forces.

Personality: A jittery fellow, Nilas tries to pass off as though heā€™s not paying attention or doesnā€™t care, but is too much of a busybody for anyone to buy it. Has a bad habit of eavesdropping at best of times, Nilas is frequently find and intercepting transmissions to listen into conversations. Loves to be in the know about anything, the specifics donā€™t matter. And though he claims to hate gossip, get him talking and heā€™ll slip up and spill plenty tea. But heā€™ll usually catch himself on any truly secretive or important information.

Outside of these conversations, he often appears to be quiet and reserved due to listening to some other conversation. Which makes him a fairly easy target to sneak up on and spook, even accidentally. At least he has good trigger discipline and is more likely to swing a punch first than pull a gun.

Though a somewhat arrogant know-it-all, heā€™s ready and willing to be helpful. This quick obedience, and the ability to provide rapid answers to the most random of questions, has mostly kept him out of legal trouble.

Quotes:

ā€œWhen thereā€™s no news, others will fill the silence with their fears, conspires, and opinions. And on rare occasion, even the truth. Someone always feels they have to when the mouthpieces donā€™t.ā€

ā€œEverything sings, you just need to know how to listen for it.ā€

ā€œEh, the military doesnā€™t treat me any worse than my family. At least someone will celebrate when I dieā€¦even if that might be the enemy.ā€

History: Nilas comes from a world somewhere far away from the current conflict. He joined a recruitment effort by the fighting forces to get away from his family and thought he was taking a comfy IT job. Unfortunately, he wasnā€™t paying attention to the specifics and found himself as an on-the-grounds network repairman. Of course, the role difference between keeping your sideā€™s comms up and running versus sabotaging enemy lines gets messy really quick in battle. He came to Silas as part of the first reinforcement wave and has been planet side ever since.

Trivia: Enjoys listening to remixes of sounds recorded from stars. When causing comm disruption, the raw star recordings are often whatā€™s sent.

Hey, sorry I didnt get posts out the past few days, this one had been cooking on my phone for a bit but Im all caught up now

Olisi

oh I shouldve clarified that a bit more I guess, theres a few people taking it a bit wrong.
All combat personnel for Argon and Blackvine have hardsuits, though the kind and features will vary. Ill write something up and add it to the signup post, but just want to try and clear that up.

I am going to ask that you drop the rank a fair bit, as I wouldnt like to have any ā€œwhos supposed to command whoā€ kinds of things going among the party, its just not a good dynamic when you all should be equal as players.

Also going to have to say that this isnt something you would be able to have out the gate, both as said in the signup, and its probably something your heavier hardsuit wouldnt be able to carry as I explained in PMs

(this is where I would link Down with the Sickness by Disturbed, but Im not sure how much that would be pushing the boards rules)

Nota

Once again, this is totally on me, but this would be typical features in most hardsuits. I can get some in depth clarification on that and some other things up tomorrow when Im home.

Overall though, it looks good. Ace is approved

Dune

Man made an ODST in this universe and I love it.
Only question/comment is on faction: are you sold on Blackvine, or would you be okay with Argon? I feel it may fit a bit better, and would mean theres a slightly more even split in the factions.

Aside from thatthe character looks great

ajtazt

Shhhhhā€¦
Nice attention to details though

Ayy argon lesgo, was hoping for some of those

I suppose thatā€™s what I get for drawing the design of my character first and then trying to patch it into the pre-existing terminology of the setting

Iā€™ll rearrange that section to be more in-line with your idea.
But most importantly, is all of the actual functionality of the hardsuit that I listed okay or do I need to change some stuff up?

Functionalities perfect. Dont worry much about your drawing, it fits in just fine.

Ill get some writing and drawing done, I shouldve been more thourough in the original post.

Somebody read Aceā€™s signup :goo:

Bro would vibe with Vitus fr

Also just wanted to add, I did a lot of research into sydenhamā€™s chorea for Vitusā€™ signup, because I was worried the Boards wouldnā€™t vibe well with the concept in an rp even to the comparatively minor degree that Vitus possesses - from what Iā€™ve gathered, itā€™s been a really easy disease to cure for over a hundred years, and can be avoided almost entirely with basic antibiotics, so this isnā€™t something heā€™ll be dealing with for the rest of his life.

Might expand upon the lore in the rp itself detailing about how it used to be much worse, but if he survives the rp and gets a month and a halfā€™s bed rest itā€™ll basically be gone. Too bad thereā€™s an inconveniencing war going on rn or he might be better already :smirk:

Added some minor edits to Brennā€™s backstory (after GMā€™s suggestion).

I occasionally remember to do my homework. :stuck_out_tongue:

Glad youā€™re excited. Iā€™m surprised by it, didnā€™t think any would find it to be a great choice.

Quite honestly, if you didnā€™t have communication as a section, I wouldnā€™t have considered joining. But it has been awhile since the last time Iā€™ve played a comms-focused character. They tend to be a favorite of mine.

Took care of the issues.

Looks good, lin is approved

We have five player characters now, and while I wouldnt like too many people, we definitley have room for one or two more before I close signups and start the RP. If theres anyone on the fence, or anyone youd like to see get in on this, be sure to talk to them. Ut wont be impossible to join after we start, but Id rather not have to work in characters past the early game

I still need to finish up my entryā€¦

Evening everyone. I heard about this group from Ajtazt. Iā€™m new to RP, especially in this manner - but this sounds awesome. Is there room for a noob?

Welcome to the Boards.

By all means, welcome in! Weā€™ve got some talented writers in here who know how to detail an expressive story. Including someone who may or may not have written a big guideline on how to be good at this sort of thing, itā€™s definitely not still work in progress or anythingā€¦ :eyes::sweat_drops:

Also, I just realized these signups are in the wrong category. Iā€™ll go ahead and move them over now.

Awesome! Iā€™ll get to work on a character sheet!

Name: Safron A. Monteque
Age: 200
Origins/Faction: Blackvineā€™s United Colonial Military
Position/Branch: Freelancer/Reconnaissance Scout
Equipment/Hardsuit:

EMP Nades: Round Spherical Devices that when armed detonate and fry electronics. Her personal favorite device and sheā€™s quite proud of them, giving a boastful speech about how all this fancy tech is just one solar flare away from being obsolete, and tools such as knives and good old fashioned fire arms never lose reception or run out of batteries.

Flamethrower: A standard device, and while the gas needs reloading from time to time fairly reliable, but incredibly heavy. In an effort to discourage soldiers with a good aim in popping the gas can, sheā€™s taken the liberty of modifying the equipment by wrapping each canister up in heavy armor to give it an extra boost of protection.

C1 Sterling SMG: A really old firearm, from wars long past, how she ended up with it is a tale from another decade. However, it fires good 9mm rounds and seems to be in splendid condition for its age.

Hardsuit: Her hardsuit is suited more for running, and while it keeps the armor plating strong, it mostly works to protect her from her destructive flames and store her blood reserves when she acquires them.

Appearance:

Underneath her hardsuit her skin is completely pale, like that of India Paper and just as thin. Judging by her face she looks to be in her thirties, although that is simply not true, and her own words are never quite so honest as to her true age. Her eyes are a sharp red, and her frame lithe like a big cat of the savannah. Even if stripped of her tools and hardsuit she could prove quite tricky to keep a hold of, especially with her running and jumping speed.

Personality:

Cantankerous would be one way to describe her, although depending on who sheā€™s interacting with she may stow that personality trait and be relatively amiable. However, she is known to go on large lectures about how better things were when they were simpler, and how whatever new piece of technology really is just too much, and how drone warfare is just cowardly, and on and on and on about such topics till whoever be her companion begs her to shut up.

She can be remarkably patient, and furthermore has been known to secure hostages and negotiate surrenders with her silver tongue. Although it has been reported that some hostages that would have been easy fair died a little too oddly for comfort, although considering her time in the military and how far away she typically is from higher command there is no way to validate these claims.

History:

Heralding from a distant time and planet she holds herself above others, often believing herself to be smarter than them due to her age, which often times can be the case. She joined the Blackvine military back in the old days, when they first yearned to be free, and after they had secured such freedom she found herself drifting off into the Bounty Hunter life, often feeding herself with such jobs and securing her blood in that manner. For vampire she be, and such a kin needs the life that stays in the blood to continue beating their hearts.

Brought to Sivias originally as a hunter, she found herself siding with the Colonial Military and joining up again for the second time, often berating them with things only a veteran would know and keeping coy and giving excuses on how she would ever know such a thing. Her sense of humor merely being in confusing her allies when it suites her.

Now that the planet has been besieged her senses are nervous and she doesnā€™t much care for it.

Trivia:

She is quite the fan of black tea, and has been known to trade copious amounts of money to the locals for it.
