For nearly a year now, war has ravaged the independent world of Sivas. Battles between the Baronies of Argon and the Blackvine Colonies rage in the plains of this once calm world, but that may soon come to an end.
The initial blitzkrieg launched by the United Colonial Military may have nearly eliminated the Argon forces occupying parts of the planet, but a tremendous strain has been placed on the colonies by keeping the baronies’ reinforcements locked in battle. Claiming the planet itself to be of little use, with its location being more important to expansion, the High Baron has authorized Admiral Labrenz’ wish to use mass bombardment to end the surface conflict, along with additional ships to crush the UCM’s navy present above. Whispers of the planet’s fate have begun to spread, carrying a certainty that is sure to terrify all who hear it: the first ships have already arrived, and it is only a matter of days before the others do. Worse yet, to ensure that Colonial forces will be struck with no warning, Labrenz plans to refuse evacuation to troops currently deployed on Sivas’ surface before the bombardment.
You will be playing as combatants in this fight. Your branch, allegiance and origins are entirely up to you, but by some means you will be on the planet’s surface, whether you are traditionally a ground pounder or circumstances forced you into the embrace of soil. You will be armed, but ammunition will be limited, and there is no guarantee that anything found in the field will be salvageable. Faced with rumors of an imminent planet-destroying bombardment, you will be forced to decide whether to continue fighting for your cause or flee for your life, making allies wherever you can to ensure survival. It is important to be mindful of your mouth however, as the Baronies and their agents will likely go to great lengths to preserve the element of surprise.
Origins
The Baronies’ Grand Argon Fighting Forces
Initially deployed to defend the newly constructed transportation hubs and fuel depots on Sivas, the Baronies’ armed forces have since shifted to a new objective: deliver a massive blow to the core of the Colonial military, since so much of it is being funneled into this fight. Better equipped than their opponents by a fair bit, Argon forces have up until recently underestimated their enemies in this war, leading to many calls for arms and reinforcements shortly after new units are deployed. Finally allowed to use means of cataclysmic destruction, experienced fighters may notice that a change is occurring in the navy above.
Blackvine’s United Colonial Military
Not nearly as prestigious as the Argon, Blackvine and its colonies were nonetheless forged in many battles as they fought hard to remove themselves from the Baronies influence. Many of their senior officers and a still significant chunk of their army is made up of veterans of that freedom fight, making up for the differences in technology, though perhaps not numbers. Nearly one year ago, soldiers of the Blackvine arrived in large numbers to Sivas and blitzed the Barony infrastructure in place there, nearly destroying the entire force stationed there. Digging their heels in in anticipation of a counter attack, many more troops arrived shortly after, making Sivas one of the largest single deployments in the UCMs history, short as it may be.
Sivas Militia
The limited navy held by Sivas, along with the closest thing they had to a regular military was quickly wiped out in the first month after they joined the battle. Initially staying out of the fight, the militia eventually formed to join the Colonials, but many months of disagreements and mutinies now leaves the Sivas Militia fighting themselves along with the offworlders, having divided roughly in half, some supporting Argon’s armies, while many others inflate Blackvine’s numbers.
Sivas Civilian
A Sivas native, you have endured the past year of violence, watching your beloved home quickly turn from a peaceful, independent world to a ravaged battlefield that seems as if it will never recover from the horrors of war. Who do you blame for the atrocities brought upon your land and people? Though the Baronies ignored your world’s requests to end their operations here, their transportation hubs kept entirely to themselves, with the only effect being more offworld traffic. Things were tense, but quiet until Blackvine came to drive off the Argon. Nearly successful in their goal, war made Sivas its home regardless of the intents of anyone involved. Although some may now look beyond the politics of it all, preferring to simply survive or flee, most of Sivas is now divided in which of the outsiders is to blame for the brutal destruction brought to their home.
Technology Overview
Hardsuits
While civilians do have access to hardsuits, many don’t find much need for them unless they are regularly onboard any smaller ships or exposed to vacuum often, although a number of them use minimalist passive or semi-powered exoskeletons. Military personnel almost always have some form of hardsuit, be it one for naval officers onboard a cramped ship, marines with their wide variety of missions, or ground troops who tend towards lighter hardsuits that may not be rated for the hard vac their naval or marine brothers and sisters encounter.
Weapons
While there are a handful of energy weapons in various stages of development, the reality is that they simply aren’t practical yet, meaning nearly everyone is still using different designs of chemical-kinetic firearms, some blunt or edged personal weapons, and a mix of missiles and things such as chemical-kinetic munitions, railguns or gauss cannons on the naval scale. Infantry weapons feature primarily caseless ammunition, but any more powerful personal weapons, or sidearms focused on simplicity and reliability still use cased ammo. Most civilian firearms use cased ammo, and Sivas is one of the few non-frontier planets where it isn’t uncommon for civilians to own firearms. A particular difference between the personal weapons of the Baronies and the Colonies is in age and additional features: while the firearms of both factions are incredibly reliable, Blackvine weapons tend to be simpler, often able to be repaired in the field given the availability of basic spare parts, while the Baronies’ forces utilize more advanced weaponry that have more features and sometimes extra advantages over their competition.
Communication
Communication equipment is largely based around radio waves in some means, though fixed locations (or ships in precise geosynchronous orbit) can use beams of light to rapidly transfer information in a straight line, though this is prone to interruption from weather and other outside factors. Interplanetary, and especially interstellar communication has a noticeable delay, which combined with travel times is part of the factor in the war at Sivas being more of a skirmish in the grand scheme of things, despite lasting a year

Trivia:
*please dont go too ham, stick to a primary and sidearm, melee of some sort if youd like. Combat will be a part of this, but its not going to be the main focus. The heaviest weapons characters would be able to have and start with would be a Barony LMG or a DMR from either faction. If anyone wants to do a navy officer or vehicle operator/pilot, they are usually equipped with some sort of pistol or SMG
I don’t have a set number of characters I’m looking for, but this will be on the lighter side. I will release two GMPCs to help guide in the beginning, but they will eventually be removed (perhaps violently).
(now the not fun stuff) I have the ability to request changes to characters before they are accepted, as well as the ability to deny characters or players from joining. If you have questions about anything world or character wise, feel free to ask.
