I think my theory might actually be true…

At the end of BoL, this is said:

and far above the hollow where he sat stood a man much unlike The One To Trust.

At the other end of the void there stood a man much like The One To Trust, who seemed to be visibly incomprehensible.

These are the two forms of The One to Trust, who have just been split apart.

(referring to the first figure) The man was also missing his left arm. Perhaps he’d like another.

This is definitely Tott, who was said to be “unlike the one to trust” visually. The other figure is said to be “like the one to trust”, being Ghid.
