The First: MOC Contest Results (BIONICLE Canon Contest #1)

This is a grave I’d die on too, buddy. :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay, I think I might understand it now.

…Maybe.

You can continue to be suspicious of TTV for the voting system for as long as you want. IMO they’re still the most honest, straightforward and willing admins of any Bionicle fansite throughout the theme’s existence. And I’ve got complaints about the way they do things, but do you know how hard it is to get a Bionicle admin to argue with you calmly?

The disqualified votes can’t be issued publicly for multiple reasons, which have all been listed. And if you don’t like that… Too bad. I know that’s really blunt, but they’re not releasing the votes and that isn’t gonna change.

I’d dwell more on this but there’s a list of questions in the middle of the post.

What

If you’ve made 15 accounts to bump up one entry, having to make each one look through the site for 30 minutes and read things is going to be somewhat deterring.

Ok so this isn’t the most eloquent answer, but here you go:

Are you in the Bionicle Community?

  • [YES] - You are in the Bionicle Community

  • [NO] - You are not in the Bionicle Community

It’s about that simple. If you say yeah man, I’m in the community, then… You are. If you don’t want to be you aren’t. But if you’re willing to spend 30 minutes browsing with a message boards account just to vote on a contest for a character’s depiction becoming law, you’re probably a fan.

Greg agreed to have the contests and allowed TTV to host them.
TTV has rules and regulations.
Greg ultimately can shut the contest down, veto the winner, or do anything related to the contest if he so chooses.
TTV is responsible to keep the contest orderly and handle it in a way which is acceptable for Greg.

Nothing has been an overstepping of power here. Site rules have always said no duplicate accounts; this isn’t a new rule.

What in the heck are you talking about

The OR category is clearly what you mentioned at the beginning, but barring that… I don’t know what you’re trying to say. That there’s been an injustice done?

Rewrite everything that occurred, release the votes, do not enforce the rules, and let everything loose.

No.

Yes, quite exquisite. Every day I do enjoy kicking the peasants off my five thousand acre manor simply for building a toy out of LEGO parts.

I sort of understand where he is coming from (and I too want the voters to be revealed), but the moderators have already made their decision.
I still don’t know why releasing the names of the voter’s list would be an issue, but that’s how it is.
If people wish to they can just DM everyone who voted for Bendryx in the final poll, if necessary. It’d take a while but it would ultimately be the same thing, just longer. No guarantee of a response, however.

@keiththelegokid I am unsure as to what that is. I don’t remember that being a thing on BZPower.

Why even bother with an open thread or poll then? If you don’t want new people joining your community and actually picking then just make it a private thread with a closed poll so you can all pick your lore accurate toy that the kids will totes love

Because, my good chap, it is fun to see the peasants cry as we raise their taxes once again!

No one cares if new fans join. The issue here isn’t whether someone is a ‘true fan’. The issue is that a bunch of these accounts aren’t even real people.

It’s less literally taxing, more stifling creativity with random arbitration

To be fair, that in itself is debated (by me as well).
But yes, the wider goal was to allow everyone to participate. Whether that goal has been met or not is not for me to say, but that was part of it.

Oh yes, yes. Do go on, I shall be buttering my muffins while you talk.

No taxation without figuratization!

To anyone saying that TTV rigged the vote against Hoseryx:
Hoseryx was going to be closed down right when it posted for being a joke entry. Eljay specifically stepped in to allow it.
If they didn’t want the noodle to win, they could’ve just done nothing, and it would’ve been over before it started.
Or they could’ve rigged the vote count in the first poll it won.
Or the second.
If they were really interested in “gate keeping” against hoseryx, they had many opportunities, including a legitimate one that few people, if any, would’ve questioned.

Unless you’d rather believe that we maliciously allowed it to stay in the polls just so we could ruin everyone’s days in the eleventh hour in the worst way possible that also would open us up specifically to controversy just because we hate the fandom or because TTVSux4Reel.

I mean… We had every intention of giving it to Greg if it won…

Although I disagree that that means it certainly did not happen, your argument does make sense, and I don’t feel it’s right to bother the moderators themselves any more about it if we’re just going to be saying the same stuff all day.
At the end of the day there’s no changing it, and regardless I myself (as well as other Bendryx supporters) had number 2 as our second choice because it also was good.
If anyone wants to investigate the votes themselves they’re free to do so to the best of their ability, but please do not harass anyone.

Oh it was this awesome series of comedy bionicle shorts, but the crew behind them stopped making them and instead reverted to podcasts that aren’t doing too hot.

Anyways to be more serious, they are not “stifling creativity” with this vote. Are you seriously telling me every single other MOC entry (including my own) was somehow inferior to Hoseryx? That they were not creative enough?

The real gatekeeping is coming from the likes of you, trying to tell people what is “creative” and what is not.

I’m all for people choosing whatever moc they want but uh

Hoseryx just ain’t it, bud

It’s a great joke and has led to some nice memes, but I don’t think this is the time to call out gatekeeping :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, oftentimes podcasts don’t do so well in general, as the genre is flooded and it takes a lot to make them stand out. That video reminds me of old machinimas, though. There were some excellent ones back then. A lot of people stopped making them though.
@Chronicler That seems a bit like a strawman. I think he was more just saying that “Bendryx was rejected due to the mods not liking it and wanting to stifle a creative entry in favor of their own choice”, not that he was arguing that the others were not creative.

Not saying I agree or disagree, just saying what it seemed like when I read it.
