It’s OK. I’m a history buff. I should be good.
You ever get into the History Bee?
World and US History classes sort of bore me. It’s usually just “This country didn’t like this country’s vibe, so they invaded.” However, as soon as you delve deeper, and start to look into history on your own via nonfiction books, history is siiiiiick.
Nah.
It would destroy me for sure.
Usually the AP test is easy because I go off of recognition and hints. Going off of the top of my head is hard.
Yeah…
There was one kid who answered the questions faster than I could think.
Not even kidding.
I’m slightly scared by those people.
(He was in the top ten)
At least I memorized the presidents.
I didn’t memorize anything.
I’m just a history buff.
I have the AP Euro test Friday as well. Honestly, my only regret with that course was not being able to cover all European history, not just Renaissance and beyond. Of course, there’s no way we could do thart in a year with sufficient detail in a high school setting.
But yeah, I often find that my favorite parts of history are the ones I’m currently studying, especially if it’s heavy in war and politics. Understandably, I’m fascinated by European history.
(Those crazy Europeans.)
Otto von Bismark anyone?
I think this man was one of the more instrumental players in setting up WW1.
Please close this topic before a fight starts.
Do we need to switch the discussion to ancient history, then?
No, that also can start a fight.
Ancient Rome FTW! though the monguls were more powerful.
Did the mongols rule an empire for almost 1,000 years?
I didn’t think so.
@Eljay , close this thread. Before someone teaches these people about the actual history of the US, the west and make a complete 180 of their beliefs.
They had more land.
More then.
Hi, Slime here, a Moderator if you don’t know, and creator of this topic,
You’ll note that Eljay was also concerned about the potentially political nature of this topic, and said above
For a year and a half now, this topic has managed to avoid political discussion. As such, I see no reason to close it now.
@TeslaEffect I’d say there’s some history for ya. What Slime said is true. Topic stays.
You never can avoid politics when you talk about history. Thats impossible, specially cause most of the history books are written to be politically proper and by the winners instead of actually being true records of history.
So please close this thread.
I want to hear what people think about the relationship between stories like The Illiad and The Aenied when it comes to actual history. Do y’all think there is likely to be some truth that spawned the legends?
