The Infinite Page | OOC & Discussion Topic

It must be asked, what happens when a author finishes a book? When a character finishes their story, specifically. Do they cease to exist? Do they get their happy ending, are they given their eternal reward? Their souls are laid to rest?

You certainly didn’t.

Welcome to the Infinite Page. There is an endless expanse of life here, a wonderland for all to enjoy. All of them empty. Shells of forgotten characters, husks of villains, protagonists endlessly searching for new quests, hopelessly waiting to be plucked from their abysmal existence.
Genres clash, fighting for dominance over one another, in endless chaos.
Every last second, every last moment, is a whirlwind of undirected emotions. Madness. Uncertainty.
And something else lurks at the edges of the known and unknown.
But it is said there is a way out. There are whispers, written into the very page itself, of a single Author, remaining to the end. And those who stand in their presence will finally become whole. Free.

Who will you become? Who are you? Do you want to be free?

Actual Explanation: Welcome to The Page, a mashed space where old and forgotten stories, characters, and settings, are disposed of. Shunted away, never to be remembered. A purgatory, where one can start new, or slip slowly away. This place may seem to be paradise at first, but those who start to remember before will slowly slip away. But there are legends, legends of an author, a single writer, who stayed in The Page, and rumors that they are waiting to be found, and to bring whomever finds them, from the page. To free them. And you, you too shall want to be free, yes? Who wouldn’t? So chase your freedom, and either find it, or die trying.

Character Sheet

Name: Its the name of your character. Please be mature.
Age of Creation: How long has it been since you were created?
Remarkable: What makes you special? (I.E. fancy way of saying powers and an explanation of those powers)
Weapons: You should all be fairly well versed with what these are.
Appearance: What did you look like in your authors eyes?
Personality: What’s your characters personality?
Backstory: What was your characters unfinished story?
What happened to them when they arrived in the Infinite Page?
(Optional) Factions: What faction is your character affiliated with?

WARNING: You will all be starting in the same location.

Factions

The Unwritten: The oldest stories on the Page, they have slowly deteriorated throughout the endless eons. They are vicious, many succumbed to madness and mindlessness. Their clothing is just as feral as their minds, nothing more than rags.

Cogito Ergo Sum: A group of characters who believe themselves to be independent from their creators, they search for the Author relentlessly, wishing to destroy it, to fully proclaim their sentience, and that they are the true masters of the Page.

The Seers: Holy men and women, they provide care for the unfortunate, and they worship the Author, believing they are the key to their salvation, and their apotheosis.

The Watchers: Sentient discombobulations of geometric shapes and Lovecraftian horrors, it is unknown whether they are truly friend or foe.

The Pilgrims: Also known as The Jacks, these people wander throughout the page, wishing to discover it’s inner secrets. Along the way, they have created outposts and marketplaces, touring the endless wastes and wonderlands.

Rules

All general rules apply. Don’t be rude, don’t swear, and don’t double post.
Final say will utterly end up with me. Not trying to be a jerk, plus i can very much be reasoned with. Just don’t try something you know isn’t going to work, and expect me to go with it.

For any NOT versed well with RP etiquette, or are just bored with your usual writing.

WARNING: 1 Character per person please.
(Space for Approved Characters)

I want at a minimum 3 players, hoping for 5. Not too many, however.

How serious do we need to be about the tone and vibe of our characters?

Since the world of this RP is a place where the characters from all forgotten stories coexist, that would mean that there can be ones from the genres of comedy, parody and satire just like there can be ones from action and adventure, right?

Yes! Indeed. You can make parody characters.

So … are the characters trying to “flesh themselves out” with the end goal of being “finished” characters for their respective RP, or Stories?

That’s not exactly in my hands for the Player Characters. The player decides their wants and needs, but when it comes down to “are characters trying to complete themselves” in the sense of finishing their own story from which they originally came from, no.
They were discarded and LEFT unfinished. And legends tell of a person AKA The Author, who supposedly can finish their stories.

I like it, and have multiple characters to choose from. I’ll get a sheet out together.

Mayhaps I can use my first two characters here… I absolutely forgot to finish any topics featuring them.

One last thing: Just one character please. It get hard to keep track with multiple characters per person.

Ok, thanks for clarifying that! I’ll remember that when I get started on a character.

This is great! Just two things:

Probably gonna have to be having this thing have malfunctions that impair it, otherwise it would be very difficult to include.

This is a definite no. I’m gonna have something like this, but you can’t just have it right off the bat.
