I love how 50% of these are just terrible Tahu alt builds

Yo what

This group is wack. I do like the Footmen though.

I can’t say I’m much of a fan of 2001 Rahi apart from the actual sets, but these look okay for being combiner models. It’s neat to see them, at least, even if they aren’t the prettiest.

Footmen. Why?

I think I have opened the pandora box with these things

It’s interesting seeing what designs LEGO came up with in the designers spare time.

The Toa Kaita picture at the bottom of the “Bionicle Creations” section is actually a link that leads to those two, you just have to click it

As is the maskless Turaga at the top but that just has sets

Ok. I didn’t know there was a link in this picture.
I’ll check that.

Thank you :+1:

Quick Update

Thanks to @Rukah, who tells me the existence of a link I didn’t notice on the website, I recreated the last two creations of Daniel Lipkowitz for his website:

Toa Taganua

Turaga Vanoa

Daniel Lipkowitz certainly had a lot of Bionicle sets… a lot of his stuff, while weird, is actually pretty cool when you look closer. Turaga Vanoa here is a bit goofy but I like the interesting ways he is put together.

Hi! It’s so nice to see people finding my old creations. Thank you all for the kind words! I didn’t get to contribute much to BIONICLE’s story, but I always enjoyed building new Rahi at my office desk, and it was tremendously fun when one happened to make its way into canon.

Just to clarify, only the first bunch of MOCs here are mine. I think the rest were created from a very limited selection of parts by my now-wife, who built the Sands of Mata Nui and Legends of Mata Nui websites (I can’t totally confirm, because she disavows any knowledge or memory of making them).

Welcome to the Boards.

I’m honestly kinda shocked to see you here lol. Is there any chance these Rahi creations still exist in some form? Or are there any that never got posted?

Thanks! The Moke Kanohi randomly popped into my head this morning and I googled it just to see what would pop up. When I saw there was a discussion of my old creations, I had to check it out.

I’ve still got all of them built, but they’re in storage and not easily accessed right now. I’m sure I must have made a few that didn’t make it into LEGO Magazine, but I’m hard-pressed to think of any specifics after all these years.

If anyone wants a real scavenger hunt, at one point the LEGO Club team borrowed some of the models up above for a professional photo shoot outdoors in real environments. I don’t even remember what it was for, though I don’t think it was the magazine (maybe the website?). But the photos should be out there somewhere!
