Thoughts on Tiktok?

Tiktok is literally just Vine but less genuine. That’s all it’s ever been to me.

When it first came out, I thought it would be a cringy app that would die in a few months. Now it’s a cringy app that hasn’t died. Tiktok is proof of Murphy’s Law.

I will defend it that it probably has a good side but like I said before I hate it’s general fan base too much to look for said good side. Honestly that one annoying mom humor ad probably misrepresents the app but I don’t care enough to prove it.

The song stops and so does the light, and in the spoon’s place is a mechanical device that is relaying the previous ordeal back at me, with the song being ever so potent. The strange light appeared to force my muscles to contract and extend in a fashion that was in tandem to the song. I walk over to the device and see that it is with other recordings, all with the exact same formula that seem to be grabbing lots of attention from other victims of this device. I pick up the odd machine and after tapping on it several times, I learn the name of the menace.

I am intrigued by the new discovery. I fiddle with the device for several moments, until I am greeted by a teenage girl dancing to music with crude lyrics. For some unexplainable reason, I search for another of these recordings, and my search comes up with the greatest of rewards. I am enthralled by my discovery, and eventually come upon a recording of the very card that had appeared in my pocket moments ago. I keep going, mesmerized by whatever I was holding in my hands. Seconds turn to minutes, and minutes turn to hours. Once I finally have enough will to let go, I find that I cannot sit still. Every moment I think of the application, until I finally relieve myself of the pain. My cycle goes on and on, and I cannot stop.

Someone, please help me.

Ah tiktok. A former teenaged neighbor girl told me to start one a couple of years back. I didn’t bother. She had a bunch of inappropriate booty pics on her social media and I privately shamed her for it, blocked her, and never spoke to her again. Then she grew up, learned a fulfilling career, got into a good relationship, and the social media posts became a lot cleaner. The tiktok posts were likely the most embarrassing thing she ever did and I wouldn’t recommend doing tiktok unless you have a real passion for singing or acting.

I think that TikTok is not good. Not only because of the inappropriate content on it — there actually is proof that it is used by the Chinese government to gather information on users. Now, this is normal, considering that it’s a way that many companies and governments get the info needed to improve apps and sites, but TikTok doesn’t have the user protections that a site like this one has. For instance, they don’t tell you what they do with your data after collecting it. They also got asked to remove the app from the US App Store on most devices (though I’m not sure how it’s still around – they probably worked out some solution).

But also, TikTok is much like other social media sites – it encourages people to build up a persona that has to be the newest, trendiest, and best of all. It then encourages a culture that can easily harm those who can’t handle the effort of doing this, leading to the stories that I’m sure you’ve heard of people getting depression or other issues from that app.

Now, I don’t want to sound too harsh. I use GroupMe and Instagram (not frequently, but sometimes), and I usually try to stay away from them. I mean, if it won’t stop sending you inappropriate ads, it’s not worth using.

There’s my spiel, and you can criticize it as much as you want. Just please don’t flag it, because I’m not trying to put blame on anyone here. Just on the TikTok developers.

I believe that Tiktok is too dangerous as it is poisoning the minds of the youth, and corrupting some people to do some stunts that are too extreme and unethical, plus it is upsetting to parents as well.

I hear in January Tik tok might actually be banned in the US. think what you want about trump but if there’s one all around good thing he can do it’s to ban that stupid app; let’s see if these idiots got the balls to follow through on their threats if their app gets banned.

I hope so. The fact some people genuinely threatened to kill themselves when the topic of banning this app comes up is just even more proof that it needs to get gone.
And that’s not even going into the crim… I mean “trends” that come from this app or the fact it’s a proven Chinese spy app.

Heck yeah, TikTok and YT Shorts, despite their potential advantages, have in my experience created serious problems and contributed to the decline in attention span and shoddy thinking.

Technically, TikTok does have the opportunity to not be banned if it’s sold to a US based business, at least from what I’ve heard. Chances are if that’s indeed the case some big billionaire will buy it and continue to subject the human race to the venom injected ocularly into the minds of the youth.

YouTube shorts isn’t too bad from the few I’ve watched; no crimes being filmed so at least that’s something. If Tik tok is sold to an American companies at least we might crack down on that kind of “content”

Yeah, since YouTube is owned by Google they do have a reputation as an “upstanding” business to uphold, while TikTok… not so much, since they already flout US regulations on consumer privacy, etc.
