you should use the manas controller and motor hub to build the murder death mobile
what a waste of perfectly good parts
I’ve operated both and can confirm the MDM is more fun
wekua, your idea of fun is different than the rest of us. so don’t say stuff like that
This guy seems so desperate to get rid of his stuff I might just do that
no no Wekua you’re completely right the MDM is top tier
perhaps this was the real unpopular opinion?
Same seller has this description on a different set. There you have it, I’m allowed to like Jack Sfone without getting judged
The seller might not judge you, but I will
now time to buy their entire stock, I’m sure I can explain to my parents why I just spent an unhealthy sum on old sets meant for small children
who
Why don’t you go make this seller’s day then
I would, but I don’t yet have a Bricklink account. Though at the same time this might actually be a reason to sign up. Yet again this applies as well:
But I’d still love to make that seller happy (and get some good stuff). this is such a dilemma
The hands and arms were introduced by exo-force, those don’t count.
The legs are atrocious, unposeable hunks, that are three studs wide for no reason.
And it is basically incompatible with any other type of minifig. You can’t use a piraka minifig head on a regular minifig, and while a regular head can attach to a bionifig torso, it’s super loose and falls off if you look at it wrong. And the legs aren’t compatible with anything, not that you would want to use them anyway
Sorry, but i gotta agree with Athena on this one. Sure, they’re better than the 05 figs and the 07 figs, but their design is still awful.
Possibly unpopular opinion: The HF minifigs are what the Bionicle minifigs should have been: recognizably different, while still fitting in with the rest of the minifigs that exist. The only thing they lacked was wrist poseability, which is easily resolved by giving then exo-force arms.
“clears throat.”
G1 becoming more sci-fi from 2004 onwards was not a bad thing.
Here I said it! /s
On a more serious note:
It was the only logical way for the narrative to go forward.
Yes, the “golden” years’ mythical and tribal aesthetics were great and maybe a bit more charming for many, but G1 was always meant to lean more towards Sci-Fy than Fantasy.
That fact alone, that the majority of the story took place inside the body of a giant robot and that even the earliest plans for the lore would’ve involved, and there would’ve been even more Sci-Fy-esque tropes, such as humans from a possible future stored inside the GSR in hibernation to travel across the galaxy to find a new home.
(At least, as I recall it, that was one of the early plans of C. Faber for G1’s story, in its early development.)
Sure, they could have translated more of the Tribesmen and the other elements of 2001-03 into the rest, but I’m convinced that how they’ve delivered the later years was pretty on point overall.
True. It would be hard to keep the more tribal elements of the story once the GSR was revealed (as well as the obvious fact that many of the characters already had sci-fi design elements– pistons, energy crossbows, telescopic lenses, and the like. Kopaka’s masks would be hard to make into a less sci-fi appearance.)
Exactly!
G1 had so many Sci-fi elements even before 2004, that implementing the same or similar tribal aesthetics into the later years’ themes would’ve been a nightmare for the creatives from a design and marketing perspective.
Besides, it might have gone boring real quick, if Gen 1 stayed the same as it was over its almost 10 years old run.
I think my biggest gripe with it was not 2004, but more that I felt after G1 was settled and done, too much was explained and elaborated on and very few true mysteries were left.
I can understand that, but TBF, it was to be expected.
After the big reveal of the GSR in late 2008, the story went for a route that they couldn’t avoid solving further mysteries.
IMO, most stories built around core mysteries are destined for this fate from the start.
(OFC, there are some exceptions, but those don’t necessarily make the rules.)
1. I don’t know why they stopped making them, but I think Lego should bring back the minifigure helmets with dual-molded visors. They looked way better and more convincing than the ones printed on the figures’ alt faces.
2. Lego should reintroduce the Technic-men figures to modern technic sets. (At least to the smaller and mid-sized sets.)
3. I’m not a big fan of the practice of sets coming with brand-new parts with prints on them. Newly introduced molds are only available in a limited number of color variations, and it can be frustrating to use them on a MOC when they already have a print on them.
100% this. I don’t think it’s even an unpopular opinion since I’ve heard many people say this, and it’s so true… Technic figs were great, they’re highly poseable with fairly realistic proportions and they add so much life and personality to any vehicle.
Yep, I also second the motion to reintroduce Technic figs. I’ve got three of them and they’re really fun to fidget with. I just think if they’re reintroduced they should be a bit more customizable, because as-is they’re a single inseparable piece (well, their individual pieces are stuck together so you can’t take them apart).
I third it
I also hope they someday go back to making more fantastical technic builds ala the technic competition sets of the late 1990s and the 2001 rahi
