Unknown, never happened.
I know that for a fact, that 19.5 % of Oxygen is safe for humans, but 100% is very lethal. If that is the case, then there is a chance that 100% Protodermis could be lethal to either a Matoran or Toa if either one inhaled the Protodermis in the air making the Matoran or Toa poisoned. Is this true or is this false? If so, please provide evidence and details. If you ask, I think this would be advantageous to the Dark Hunters or Velika and those might want to use this concept if this turns out to be true.
Yes. If it was in a particulate form (dust, vapor, etc.) it would be harmful to breathe because of its abrasive properties. As a gas, I’m not sure.
If I understand correctly, you mean gaseous protodermis?
The air in MU is one of the few things that are NOT made of protodermis.
However, gaseous protodermis still exists, but it is essentially water vapor:
So it wouldn’t be any more lethal than humid air in our world.
On the other hand, what @DuneToa mentioned with the dust particles, those could indeed be harmful, especially long term, just like dusty environment in our world.
I see. But I know that Protodermis can be in the form of liquid correct? Is it possible to use a Water jet that uses Protodermis instead of Water? If so how would it cut through objects?
For Toa, all Toa who wield the so-called “protodermic elements” (which include Water, Stone, Earth, Ice, Plantlife, Iron, possibly Plasma?) are creating the protodermic instances of their elements when they create elements. It takes training to learn to manipulate the natural forms of these elements. For example, Toa Nokama manipulates the Water configuration of protodermis, but, with training, she could learn to manipulate the actual H2O water on the surface of Aqua Magna as well. Protodermic Water behaves more or less the same to actual water, aside from the processes one can put it through to create Kanoka disks. So, using a jet of Protodermic Water would cut through objects the same way normal Water does - high-velocity matter eroding the surface it impacts.
I see. There is another thing that is mind-boggling. Say there is an animal NOT made of Protodermis that just takes in the Protodermis, how would the Protodermis affect the animal? Would it be beneficial or detrimental?
Detrimental
Q: In an answer to a question, you said that biological things would probably not be able to survive on Mata Nui. Why not?
A: Because a purely biological land animal, say, would not be as strong or as durable as a biomechanical one, and I can’t see it surviving on a diet of protodermis.
If that is the case that a organic that consumed the Protodermis by accident, say that there is a Toa trying to use her healing powers on the organic non-protodermis based creature, and the creature then got themselves hit by protodermis only to be healed again by the toa. Would that cause a mutation which could make the creature able to get used to the protodermis?
There is nothing to suggest that.
Why would “healing” mean “immunity mutation”?
Not mutating into a Mutant, but mutating in the cells to form resistance.
Just to be perfectly clear, the answer I posted does not imply that protodermis would be toxic to the organism, only that it could not get sufficient nutrition from a protodermis-based life form.
If we hypothetically settled on another planet housing life, it is very improbable that our bodies could digest and break down the compounds forming the bodies/cells of the alien life form. This is the same principle.
If that is the case, wouldn’t there be a device created by the Matorans that could suck some of the Protodermis in the air to clean the air the Matorans breathe in similar to the carbon sucking vacuums which are used as a means to climate solution?
You mentioned that Protodermis can be used as a metal foil similar to paper. If that is the case, can the Protodermis foil be used similarly to Chinese lanterns and Aomori Nebuta Matsuri Floats? If so, how would the light pass through the metallic Protodermis foil? Would it be similar to the references I gave you on this current post or would some of the light be bouncing inside the metallic foil?
I don’t know if such a device would exist due to the extensive climate control system of the Great Spirit Robot. While it presumably could be built, the Matoran would have no need to make one.
However, for your second question, they probably could make Japanese-style paper lanterns from protodermis. We have examples of plants being used to make textiles in MNOG II, and the technology used could possibly make paper-like materials.
If that is the case, could you please provide with evidence.
Also another thing, I know that after a lot of posts, there were mentions that Protodermis can be detrimental to non-Protodermis based organisms. Is there a possibility that Protodermis can be made poisonous? If so, is there a way to detox the Protodermis? And furthermore, I found out that Protodermis can come in powdery form and in liquid form, but is it possible for any Matoran or Dark Hunter or shady person in the Matoran universe to create a drug out of the Protodermis similarly to real life drugs?
the real question is why you need answers to all these seemingly-random questions
This is where the textile production occurs in-game. It depicts rope and string being produced.
Look, I have to know because I need to know if the Protodermis has limit when it comes to uses or not as well. Furthermore figuring out the uses of the Protodermis can be used to figuring out the lore of the Matoran universe more. I mean if there is a sword that uses Protodermis for its blade, it wouldn’t mean that it would last forever as the blade tends to break from extreme force or rust.
Also speaking of rust, is it possible for Protodermis to be corroded, eroded or rusted? And if that is the case is there a possibility to mitigate these followings?
