An ambush predator that lives in the swamps and still water of Le-Koto and Ga-Koto. Only the head stays visible above the water, and it isn’t anything more than a decoy. When prey strikes at the ‘face’, the actual jaws, hidden inside the chest, split open and consume the unlucky victim.
Neato! The one thing I feel like it’s missing is some sort of thumb(?) claw for the front two claws. The back four claws all have the complimentary ninjago scythe piece, which leaves the front two looking like they’re missing something (even if it’s just a little system construction attached to one of the pinholes in the Solek swords. Overall, good simple stuff; definitely feels like a skull villain.
This moc has a unique problem I haven’t encountered very much out in the wild wasteland of the Bionicle community: it’s too good.
That’s not to way it can’t be better; the skull villain wave was hampered by a very limited budget and some not-excellent play features, a limited parts palette, and a lot of gunmetal in their color schemes. Vorakul here features no gunmetal, a plethora of pieces across multiple years, several limbs with (gasp) actual knees, and zero play features. As a moc it’s quite good, but it’s far too good to stand aside the wave of villains it’s meant to feature from.
It’s also an expensive moc, as with an average price of $5.00 USD, those four Hero Factory Arm / Leg Extender with Ball Sockets pieces make this quite the valuable creation.
I lean towards designs that are more set-like, rather than huge, elaborate ones (Partly due to space). I feel like I fiddled around with thumbs, the reverse claws on the feet are actually an odd biologically practical feature, since blade feet would just sink into the ground if the creature was heavy.
I’ll have to look at some options.
@Ghid That’s a good compliment! I actually cleaned up the skull villains quite a bit. (Skull warrior changed the least, Skull Scorpion the most.) So they match better. I’ll have to post them later.
And OMG the prices on some of these parts… G2 pieces in particular skyrocketed and it makes my mocs hard to reproduce and unpleasant to find replacement parts for.
edit-Deleted some story stuff about the MOC, this got flagged as spam for some reason? I’m not sure what I did wrong here.
Double posting - making two posts in a row when an edit to the first post would have sufficed - is against the rules.
The main exception to this is if you are the topic owner and you are making an official update, such as posting a chapter of a story or new images of an existing LEGO creation, but it should be avoided whenever possible.
I think this is a perfect Skull villain. I usually hate that skull spider mask (it looks like Megamind), but here, it fits right at home with the other creepy proportions. The spindly legs are terrifying and give this MOC the presence that the other skull villains were missing. The claws look like sythes, reminding me of a reaper, further accentuating that dreadful scare factor. All that, combined with the chest being the jaw, makes this Lovecraftian monstrosity a beautiful MOC. Great work!
